Miguel heard the silence as the last of the families left. " Doreen, are you still here?".
" Yes". There was hesitation in the voice. " They did not pick me".
" Alex, are you still here?".
" Yes, I'm still here". There was silence. " I was not picked".
" What's wrong with me?". Doreen began to cry. " I'm a good round pumpkin".
" I don't know". Miguel sighed. " I'm a good looking pumpkin also".
" I'm scared". Alex sounded worried. " What will happen to us if nobody picks us?".
" Don't worry". Doreen sounded confident. " God knows we are here".
Miguel smiled. " I sure hope you are right".
