The book of II Timothy was written in 66-67 AD by Paul. The purpose of the letter was to encourage Timothy who was a young pastor in Ephesus. Paul encouraged Timothy to remain faithful in ministry even in suffering. Paul wrote this letter while he was in prison in Rome. This might of been Paul's last letter. Paul encouraged Timothy to persevere in preaching through hardships, hold fast to Scripture and guard the gospel against false teachings.
II Timothy 3:16 says all Scripture is God breathed and is useful.
