When the scouts had returned, all the people ran to greet them.
The scout from Zebulun spoke. " The land is beautiful:. His voice hesitated. " Powerful tribes and cities are in our way".
The scout from Gad spoke up. " These tribes are stronger and can overpower us".
The people picked up stones to kill Moses. " Back to Egypt". They grumbled. " At least there we were safe and had food to eat".
A dark cloud descended on Moses and the people.
God spoke. " How long will they refuse to believe in me". His voice was angry. " I will strike them all down".
Moses got down on his knees and pleaded. " The Lord is slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love".
God replied. " I have forgiven them". His voice was stern. " No one over twenty will enter the promised land".

Moses looked toward the Wilderness of Zin. He was worried. He began to pray for guidance.
God's voice answered. " Send me men to explore the land from every tribe".
Joshua and Caleb entered his tent. " I am happy the two of you are here".
The two men waited for instructions.
" God has instructed me to send one man from every tribe to scout out the land".
" What are we scouting?".
" The land of Edom".
" Hopefully whoever lives there will welcome us".
" Joshua and Caleb". Moses gave them a serious stare. " I want you to take forty days and scout the entire Wilderness".
" These twelve men will search out the land". Moses smiled at the people. " When they return, we will move".

On the day of the dedication of the tabernacle Moses, Aaron and his sons began with a ceremony of washing with water. A cloud covered the tabernacle and the glory of the Lord shone all around it. A burnt offering from Aaron was burned up by God. Nadal and Alihu approached the altar to offer fire and incense. Fire poured out and burned the two to death.
" Your sons put strange fire on the altar". Aaron trembled and cried. " Your other two sons will serve instead".
The people left the Sinai for the Jordan River. The tribe of Levi carried the tabernacle.
One day, Miriam Moses's sister came to visit her brother. As she left his tent, she noticed sores on her face and arms.
" Unclean unclean". she yelled. " Leper".
Moses cried out to God. " Please heal my sister".
God answered. " Confine her outside for seven days".

Bezalel stood outside Moses's tent.
Caleb walked up. " Moses would like to talk to you".
He entered the tent. He bowed in reverance. " Moses".
" My friend Bezalel". He smiled. " God has an important task for you".
" What task is that?".
" He wants you to build his tabernacle". Moses grinned. " And everything that goes in it".
" I'm unworthy for such a task". He lowered his head in shame. " Surely there must be someone else".
" Also the Ark of Testimony, the Mercy Seat, the table, furniture and the candlestick that goes inside it".
Bezalel could not believe what he was hearing.
Moses hugged him. " God knows you can do it". He went out and told the people. " God has commanded an altar gift of everything you have available".
For months, Bezalel told Moses about his progress with the Ark. He told him about carving out the body of the Ark. He told him about the cabinet containing the two stone tablets. He told him about the covering of the Ark. God specified that two cherubim should be crafted together.

Joshua had been waiting for several weeks for Moses to return. One day, Moses came back carrying large stone tablets. His white hair was as bright as the sun. His mantle blazed like silver. He looked angry.
" Moses, what's wrong?".
" God just told me that the people had made an idol in the form of a golden calf". He sighed. " The people are worshiping it".
When Moses saw the people dancing around the golden calf, he threw the stone tablets and shattered them.
Moses walked into the camp. He yelled at Aaron. " What have you done?". His eyes were bulging. " How could you lead the people to such sin?".
" Do not be mad at me brother". He had a perplexed look. " They persuaded me to make a God".
" Grab a sword and come with me".
That day, at least three thousand were slain. Wailing and crying were heard everywhere.
Moses told the people that he would pray to God and ask for his forgiveness.
God answered. " When the time comes, I will punish them for their sin".

Nadal, the oldest son of Aaron, ran into his tent. " Father, everyone is worried".
" Why my son?". He looked at his son. " The manna is still coming down from heaven".
Aaron's son Alihu spoke up. " We need a leader". He frowned. " The people are unhappy because Moses and Joshua have not come back".
" The people are bringing their gold and silver to melt down". Nadal frowned. " We need a form of worship that the people will like".
" Father, the people are afraid of Moses's God". Alihu looked at his father. " They are demanding a new leader".
Then, Aaron cried out to the people. " Bring me all the gold that you have".
A large pile was collected. Aaron melted it all down. He formed a golden calf. He proclaimed to the people " here is your God". He built an altar. Animals were sacrificed to the golden calf.
The entire day, the people worshiped the golden calf.

Moses sat on a rock and looked toward the mountain of Horeb. With tears in his eyes, he looked up toward heaven. " Oh God tell me want you want me to say to your people". When he had finished praying, he heard God's voice.
" Tell the people that I brought them out of Egypt and if they keep my covenant, they will always be my treasure".
Moses returned to camp and told the people what God had just told him.
The people cried out. " We will listen and obey".
The people camped near Mount Sinai. One day, a dark cloud descended on the mountain and lightening struck all around. The people were terrified. A voice like a trumpet asked for Moses to come to the top of the mountain. God told Moses to tell the people not to get too close or they will perish. Moses went back down and told the people. Then there was silence.
God spoke to his people. " I am the Lord your God who brought you out of Egypt and out of slavery".
The people listened.
" You shall love no other Gods or make an idol out of anything".
The people listened.
" You shall remember the Sabbath and not misuse the name of the Lord".
The people listened.
" Honor your mother and father and do not commit adultery or steal".
The people fell on their faces.
Then God instructed Moses and Joshua to come up to the top of the mountain and receive tablets of stone containing his laws and commands.

Joshua ran into Moses's tent. " Lotan has ordered his men to attack us next to those low hills".
" Joshua". Moses put a hand on one of his shoulders. " You need to lead this army".
" I can't". He gave him an astonished look. " I'm not worthy".
" God has already told me you are the one to lead this army". He smiled. " He has already told me his plan".
" What is that plan?".
" I will stand on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hands". He raised his arms. " My arms will be raised and your army will be victorious".
" How can we win with swords, knives and clubs?".
" God's plan is for you to divide your army into two". He smiled. " Your men with heavier weapons in front and the others along the flanks".
" Moses, and then what?".
" When they come out of the hills, you will destroy them".

Even though the people had manna, water was very scarce. They came to Rephidim and found no water. The Elders came to Moses. " Moses, the people and the animals are dying of thirst".
" Why are you putting God to the test?". He sighed. " I will pray to God for water".
God spoke to Moses. " Stick your staff against the rock and water will come out".
Moses walked out of the tent. He struck a rock and cool clear water came out of it.
The people danced and sang for joy.
Moses went to talk with the elder of the Elders, " My heart is heavy".
" Why is that my son?".
" We are entering the land of Pan". He frowned. " I'm worried about the people who inhabit this land".
" Yes, the Amalekites". The old man stared at Moses. " They are known for their cruelty".
" They are a powerful people". Moses frowned. " I'm worried".

" Moses" Aaron proclaimed as he ran into the tent. " You've got to come out and talk to the people".
He nodded. He walked out to a large crowd.
" What are you doing to us Moses?" someone yelled. " At least in Egypt we had pots of meat". The yelling got louder. " You have brought us out here to starve to death".
" We must believe". Moses pleaded to the crowd. " He will always provide and take care of us".
" How do you know that Moses?".
" I know that he loves us and will take care of us".
Moses went back into his tent. He prayed to God. He got an answer.
" I will rain down bread from heaven". The voice hesitated. " The people are to gather just what they need that day".
That night, a cloud of quails descended on the camp. The people ate and were satisfied.
The next morning, small white particles dotted the ground. Moses explained to the people what it was.
" It's called manna". He smiled at the people. " Only gather what you need for each day".
Moses prayed to God and thanked him for providing for his people.

One of the Elders tasted a cup of water from a well. He spat it on the ground.
" Moses, this water is undrinkable". The Elder frowned. " What are we going to do?".
Moses prayed. He brought back some twigs. He threw them into the well. " Drink because God has provided".
The Elder poured a cup. He drank. He smiled. " Praise God".
The people clapped and danced for joy.
Later, Moses had a meeting with the Elders.
An Elder spoke up. " Moses, at first we thought it was only going to be a three day festival".
The Elders stared at Moses.
" We did not realize that we would be walking through this wilderness with hardly any food or water".
" God has provided our needs so far".
" We want to know exactly what you plan to do".
" The pillar of dust by day and the pillar of fire by night". Moses looked at the Elders. " Will safely guide us to a land flowing with milk and honey".

One day, Moses and Joshua were talking under a tree. " Joshua, how is our food and water supply?".

" We'll take those sir". a luggage searcher took the four suitcases and checked them in. An airline clerk started checking his ticket.
" Flying straight through to Bay River Florida".
" Yes".
The airline clerk put tags on the suitcases and put them on the conveyor belt.
" You're all set". Alvin was handed his ticket. " Gate 12".
" Thank you". Alvin hurried and got through the TSA checkpoint in short time. He bought a magazine and sat down to wait at his gate. He missed his wife already. " They are coming" screamed a man as he ran past Moses. " Pharaoh and his chariots are about here".
A woman screamed at Moses. " Why did you lead us here to this place to die?".
Moses stepped onto a rock. " The Lord will fight for you and deliver you". He closed his eyes in prayer. " Precious God, deliver your people".
The voice answered. " Raise your staff and the sea will divide". Terrified people ran by Moses. " Take the people to the other side on dry ground".
Moses raised his staff and the water parted. Moses now instructed the people. " Let us go through the middle of the Sea".
The people carefully walked over the now dry ground. They saw the wall of water on either side.
When the people reached the other side, Pharaoh's chariots had reached the dry ground.
" There are our slaves". He pointed. " Onward".
A man yelled at Moses. " Pharaoh and his army are about upon us".
As the Egyptian army started across, Moses raised his staff. The water closed up the Sea.
Pharaoh, his chariots and his men drowned.

Alvin heard the music coming from the night stand clock. He turned it off. He quietly got up so he would not disturb his wife. He quickly shaved, showered and put on the clothes he was planning on wearing on the plane. He brought down three brown suitcases and put them by the front door. He walked back upstairs to the bedroom. His wife was still asleep. He kissed her on the forehead.
Eleanor woke up. She glanced at the clock. " Is it that time already?".
" The cab will be here shortly".
" I wish you didn't have to go". She yawned. " It's almost Thanksgiving".
They heard the cab honking.
" Where are you going again?".
" Bay River Resort". He kissed her again. " I will call you when I get there".
She rolled over and went back to sleep.
He walked back downstairs and opened the front door.
" Good morning Sir" replied the driver. He carried the suitcases to the trunk of the cab.
When Alvin got to the trunk, he noticed a big blue suitcase sitting among the three brown ones. " What is that blue suitcase doing there?".
" I don't know Sir". The driver put the suitcases in the trunk. " It sure is heavy".
Yawning, Alvin got into the cab. He couldn't remember if he had packed three or four suitcases.

After he was resurrected, Jesus spent forty days  with the disciples at various times, They did not know when he would all of a sudden appear. Peter wanted to tell Jesus he was sorry for denying him. Eventually, Peter went back to Galilee. One day, Peter went fishing with the others. They caught nothing. A stranger appeared on the shore. He asked if they had caught anything. Peter said no. They cast the nets again. This time they caught many fish. John exclaimed that it must be Jesus. Peter jumped out of the boat and swam to him.
Jesus already had a fire going with fish and bread. He invited them to breakfast. When they finished eating, Jesus stared right at Peter. Jesus asked Peter if he loved him more than these?. Jesus was begging for his love. He told Jesus yes you know that I love you. Jesus told him to feed his lambs. A second time Jesus asked Peter if he loved him?. Peter said yes Lord you know that I love you. Jesus replied tend my sheep. A third time Jesus asked Peter if he loved him?. Peter replied Lord you know everything you know that I love you. Jesus told him to feed his sheep.
Jesus then told Peter " Follow me". He did.

Peter ran. He was afraid of the soldiers, Judas and being recognized as a follower of Jesus. Peter ran away with John. They stopped in the open countryside. They knew they had to go back to Jerusalem. They began to walk toward the house of the high priest. John knew someone there, John was let in. Peter had to stay in the courtyard. Guards and servants had lit a fire to warm themselves. First denial was when a servant girl pointed at him and proclaimed that he was with Jesus. Second denial was when another servant girl accused him of being with Jesus. The third denial was when soldiers exclaimed that he was in the garden with the Rabbi. At that moment, Jesus came out. The two looked right at each other. The cock crowed. Jesus was taken away. Peter wept bitterly.

" Ok". He frowned. " Send him in".
A tall lanky man, wearing a bright red cape that shrouded his face, walked in. He sat down in an empty chair near the TV screen.
He gave an evil grin. " What are you doing?".
" Watching Alvin Walters". He smiled. " He is one of my faithful followers".
" Why?".
" I have much love for him". He smiled again. " He honors me by being a good father and businessman".
Satan gave an evil chuckle. " His life has been easy".
" What do you mean by that?".
" If he was really tempted". His voice hesitated. " He would not be as faithful as you think".
God studied the screen. " I don't think he would falter".
Satan grinned. " Do you give your permission to try?".
" Ok". He looked sternly at his adversary. " As usual you can only do what I allow".
Satan sighed. " I know I know". He quietly got up and left.
God shook his head. He went back to studying the TV screen.

Roy was reading the newspaper in his favorite chair. He heard the doorbell ring. He got up, walked over to the front door and opened it. It revealed a young boy dressed as a pirate and a young girl dressed as a princess.
" Trick or treat" yelled out the young boy.
" Trick or treat" yelled out the princess.
They both stuck out orange pails.
Roy took the two baskets and opened the screen door.
" Would you like a candy bar or a Devil's Food zinger?".
" Roy, what are you doing?".
" Handing out Halloween treats".
" Put down those zingers". Margaret gave her husband a serious stare. " Think about children's interests instead of your own".
With a frown, he put down the basket of zingers. He put a candy bar into each of their orange pails.

Roy looked down at the wheels of the steel cart. It made an irritating noise. " Oh great". He frowned. " Out of all the carts here".
He quickly walked past the produce toward the seasonal aisle. He noticed the candy bar minatures were on sale. He began to put bags into his cart. He was about to leave when he noticed something at the end of the aisle. It was a white display. " Hostess" he exclaimed with glee. He noticed the crumb cakes and the chocolate donuts. Then a smile came to his face. " Devil's Food zingers". He picked up a box. " I wonder if trick or treaters would like them".
He looked at his cart. He knew he was only supposed to get the candy bars. He loved the chocolate outside and the creamy filling inside. An idea came to him. " I'll just get a few boxes and mix them with the candy bars". He smiled as he put the zingers into his cart. With a sense of accomplishment, he paid for the groceries and drove home.

" Listen to my instructions". Moses told the gathered Elders. " We must do everything according to plan".
" What are those instructions Moses?".
" On the tenth day of the month, each family shall take a lamb that is one year old without defect". His voice hesitated. " At twilight on the fourteenth day, it must be slaughtered".
" Then what Moses?".
" You are to take some of the blood and put it on the sides and tops of the doorframes".
" Why is that?".
" That night God is going to pass through Egypt and strike down all the firstborn who do not have blood on their doors".
On the night of the Lord's Passover, the Hebrews stayed in their homes.
The cries of the Egyptians sounded all night.

Jesus asked them to remain with him and watch with him. Jesus went by himself to pray to his Father. It was getting cold and they were tired. They put their mantles on and fell asleep. They woke up when Jesus spoke to them. Then they went back to sleep. Jesus woke Peter again and asked why he was sleeping. They went back to sleep a third time. Jesus woke them up again and told them his betrayer was at hand. Peter took his sword and cut off the ear of one of the mob. Jesus was calm and healed his ear. " You summoned me Sire".
" Have you been able to duplicate any of these plagues?".

Pharaoh gave his chief magician an angry look.

Finally, a plague of darkness filled the land. Egypt was dark for three days.
Even though all of these plagues made the Egyptian people grumble and blame Pharaoh, his heart remained hard.

He did not want to be rejected from his Master. Then Jesus told them that one of them would betray him. He said it in anguish. The disciples looked at each other. Then Jesus dipped some bread into a dish and hand it to Judas. Then he quietly left. Peter knew then who the betrayer was. Jesus began to talk to them with calm authority. He talked about his Father and love and friendship. Jesus took bread, blessed it, broke it and said this is my body. Then he took a cup of wine and said this is my blood of the new covenant shed for the remission of sins. Peter told Jesus that he would lay down his life for him. Miguel heard the silence as the last of the families left. " Doreen, are you still here?".
" Yes". There was hesitation in the voice. " They did not pick me".
" Alex, are you still here?".
" Yes, I'm still here". There was silence. " I was not picked".
" What's wrong with me?". Doreen began to cry. " I'm a good round pumpkin".
" I don't know". Miguel sighed. " I'm a good looking pumpkin also".
" I'm scared". Alex sounded worried. " What will happen to us if nobody picks us?".
" Don't worry". Doreen sounded confident. " God knows we are here".
Miguel smiled. " I sure hope you are right".

One day, Jesus told them that one of them would betray him. The feast of Passover was approaching. Jesus sent Peter and John into the city to secure one large room. John was quiet and withdrawn. In three short years, he had matured. They arrived in the city. It was abuzz with excitement with preparations for the feast. They secured the room. That evening, Jesus and the others came. At the start of the ritual are prayers and a meal.
This time was different. Jesus took off his tunic, wrapped himself with a towel and filled a basin with water. He filled it with water. He began to wash the feet of the disciples. When Jesus came to Peter, he reacted. " You shall never wash my feet". Jesus replied " If I do not wash you, you have no part in me". Peter knew that Jesus loved him. " Lord, not my feet only but also my hands and my head".

" Yes I am" a voice replied. " I'm just over to your right".
" Are you here Alex?".
" Yes, I'm in the back".
There was excitement in Doreen's voice. " I sure hope we get picked today".
Miguel spoke up. " I hear something".
" The kids are coming". Alex shouted. " Everyone get ready".
All three pumpkins waited patiently.

One day, Peter asked Jesus how many times he should forgive others. He thought seven times was reasonable. Jesus told him seventy times seven. Jesus then told them a parable. Jesus said to have mercy on a fellow servant. Crowds looking for Jesus became larger and larger. Peter watched misery all around him. He watched the sick, insane, possessed, the lame, the blind and even lepers approach Jesus. One day, he told them that he was the true bread. Jesus had told them that he had been sent by the Father. Some of his followers left. Peter and the original twelve stayed. Jesus asked them if they were leaving also. Peter replied " Lord, to whom shall we go you have the words of eternal life".

Peter page 4 by ric gustafson

For the next six days, Peter was quiet. He did not dare ask questions or make observations. Jesus's attitude toward him had not changed. At first it bothered him that Jesus was abrupt with him. Peter knew Jesus loved him. He always asked for forgiveness and made amends for his errors. So far now, Peter was silent.
Six days later, Jesus asked him, James and  John to come with him. They went to the top of a mountain. All of a sudden, two prophets were conversing with him. Peter could not hear what they were saying. Peter asked if he could build booths for them. All of a sudden, a voice said " this is my beloved Son listen to him". As they went back down the mountain, Jesus told them to be silent about what they heard and saw. When they got back to Capernaum, tax collectors were coming around demanding taxes. Jesus told them to go fishing. The first fish they caught had a shekel in it's mouth. They gave that to the tax collectors.

Moses was resting under a tree. Then he heard the voice.
" Tell Pharaoh to let my people go".
" He hasn't listened to me yet".
" If he refuses to let them go". The voice hesitated. " I will plague his country with frogs".
Later, Moses delivered the message to Pharaoh.
" I will not let them go" screamed Pharaoh.
As Moses left the throne room, swarms of frogs were already forming in the outer court. No one could walk without stepping on one. The frogs invaded homes and they were noisy and smelly. The Egyptian people complained to Pharaoh. He summoned Moses and Aaron.
He held up a frog. " Take these frogs away from me and my people". He grinned. " If you do, I will let your people go".
Moses replied. " I will do as you request".
All the frogs died except the ones in the Nile.
Later, Pharaoh smiled because all was well again. He looked up and sneered. " Never will I let the people go".

She bent down and picked up the tarot cards from underneath the booth. A new customer was sitting across from her. She was frustrated. Every time she picked up the cards, they fell out of her hands unto the floor. Her cell phone rang. " Witches Brew". She listened. " Hello Martin". She stared at her new customer. " Are you sure you can't come".
Something about her new customer made her uneasy.
" Ok". She put down the phone. " I almost had him".
Jesus quietly shook his head. " You can't have him".
Right then, she recognized the new customer. " Nazarene".
Jesus put his scarred hands on the table. " He's confused but he believes in me".
She cackled. " No wonder I can't shuffle my cards".
Jesus stared at the witch. " Do not tempt him any longer".
She shook her black hair. " Suit yourself". She cackled. " There's always someone else". The front door bell rang. " See I told you". She stood up and walked toward the door. She turned to notice that the Nazarene had left.
There was a young woman in the doorway. She cackled. " Welcome to the Witches Brew".

The throne chair approached the river. Pharaoh was in a good mood. He had come to praise RA the god of the sun. As the chair stopped at the river's edge, a voice startled him.
" The God of the Hebrews has sent me". Moses stared at him. " To tell you to let his people go".
Pharaoh looked at Moses with disgust.
" I will strike the water of the Nile". His tired voice hesitated. " It will be changed to blood".
Pharaoh sneered. " Your God cannot do that".
Moses looked at his brother. " Take the staff and stretch out your hand over the water".
Aaron lifted the staff and brought it down on the water. Ripples appeared and fish thrashed around. The water became bright red. Fish washed up on shore swollen and bloated. A horrible odor rose from the river.
Pharaoh screamed. " Take me away from here". Later, he pointed a finger at the sky. " I will not give in". He screamed in defiance. " I will not be defeated by their God".

" Felix" exclaimed an old woman who was dressed all in black. " Sorry about that". She picked up the cat. " Welcome to the Witches Brew". She gave a slight cackle. " What can I do for you?".
" We're lost". Martin stared at the spooky decor. " We're looking for Ridgewood Avenue".
" I'm not sure where that is". The cat scampered away. " You boys look hungry".
" I am hungry" Martin replied. The two walked over and sat down in an open booth.
She gave them two menus after blowing the cobwebs off of them. " I would recommend the Eye of Newt and the Ghoul Stew".
" No thanks". Todd handed her his menu. " I'll wait for you outside".
" Sorry". Martin handed her his menu. " I guess we're not hungry after all".
" That's ok". She cackled. " I also do tarot readings".
Martin scratched his chin. " I don't know what tarot cards are".
" Come back tomorrow". She cackled again. " I'll show you".

" Endor Lane".

Peter followed Jesus everywhere. The hostility of the religious leaders was growing. Jesus's miracles were violating the Sabbath and he spent time with impure people. Also Jesus was kind to everyone but was harsh to the Pharisees and Sadducees. Jesus simply asked that the disciples trusted him. Peter was sad about his lack of faith. One time, Jesus asked them " but who do you say that I am?". Peter spoke before the others. " You are the Christ the Son of the living God". Jesus told him that he is Peter and on that rock he will build his church.
One day, Jesus started talking about his death. This disturbed Peter and the others. He talked about it as if it was destiny. Peter expressed his concerns. Jesus reacted in a harsh way. " Get behind me Satan for you are not on the side of God but of men". Peter got choked up. He loved Jesus he did not want to be separated from him. He could not look at Jesus at that point. He lowered his eyes.

Andrew brought Simon his brother to Jesus. Jesus told him " you shall be called Cephas". Jesus already knew him. " You are Simon the son of John". Peter felt accepted, forgiven and understood. Simon accepted his new name. Jesus gave him no plan or explanation. He simply left everything and followed Jesus.
Sometimes Peter was baffled by what Jesus said. But he would reply " but upon your word". One day, Jesus was tired from being with the large crowds. Later, the disciples in a boat were trying to cross the Sea. The wind was really blowing. Jesus was off somewhere praying. Then the others saw what looked like a ghost. Jesus reassured them by telling them not to be afraid it was he. Peter asked if he could come to Jesus on the water. Jesus said yes. Peter stepped out of the boat into the water. Jesus did not move. Then he lost sight of Jesus. He began to sink. " Lord, save me". Jesus pulled him out of the water.

Moses and Aaron now stood before Pharaoh again.
Aaron spoke. " Let the people go".
" Your God has no power". He looked at them with disgust. " Show me a sign".
Aaron threw the staff on the ground. It became a hissing snake.
" This is the sign you were talking about". He loudly clapped his hands. " Magicians, come here".
A group came over and surrounded Moses's and Aaron's snake.
Jambres the chief magician chanted around the serpent. Small snakes appeared from under his robe.
As Moses and Aaron watched, their serpent began to swallow the magician's snakes.
" No more signs". Pharaoh screamed. " Get out".
After meeting with Pharaoh, Moses prayed to God.
God told him what to do next.

It was made of mesh and formed a cage. The fishermen only have to take care of their boat and their nets.
Jesus often saw fishermen in Capernaum. Peter and Andrew pulled in their net. Jesus stared at them. He had tenderness for them in his heart. Peter was staring at Jesus. He felt that Jesus seemed sad.
Simon and Andrew had spent the night and caught nothing. Jesus was speaking to a crowd. He used their boat to stand in. After it was over, Jesus told them to let down their nets for a catch. Their nets caught so many fish, they almost broke. Peter said to Jesus " depart from me for I am a sinful man". Jesus told him that he would instead be fishing for men.

Pharaoh Amunhotep II had his eyes closed. He was resting on a pillow. It was quiet. That all changed when an aide walked in.
" Mighty Pharaoh, two men representing the Hebrew slaves wish an audience with you".
" What do they wish?".
" Sire, I do not know". The young voice hesitated. " But they insist on seeing you".
" Very well". He sighed. " Send them in".
Moses and Aaron entered. They stopped in front of Pharaoh.
" What do you want?".
" O mighty Pharaoh". Aaron bowed. " Our people did not come as captives".
" Again, I ask what do you want?".
" The Lord God of Israel has revealed himself to us". Aaron hesitated. " He has commanded us to appear before you".
" Really". Pharaoh pointed a finger at the two. " Tell your God that he has no authority here".
Aaron did not react. " Mighty Pharaoh, the God of the Hebrews wants us to take a three day journey into the desert to offer sacrifices to our God".
" Your God". Pharaoh clapped his hands. Two guards appeared. " Get these two out of my sight".
Moses knew this was going to happen.
