through the eyes of a child page 9

through the eyes of a child page 9 by ric gustafson

Detective Springer quietly walked up to the park bench as young people biked past him. He sat down on the left end of the black steel bench. He opened up his notebook and finding a pen in his shirt pocket began to write some observations down.
He sipped from the Starbucks paper cup as he looked around the open area. For the past hour, he had walked the trail around the park searching for anything that would help him. After decades of cases, he knew that the trail led to this spot in the park. Sipping his coffee, he knew that this was the only open area of the park and the logical place for something to happen to Kelly.
He sipped the last of his coffee and threw the paper cup in the trash can. He stared at the curb and thought to himself that this would the ideal spot for something bad to happen to her.
As he started to walk back toward the trail, the wind picked up and little pieces of garbage began to swirl around the trash can and park bench.

Peace and God's blessings. Love Ric
