Titanic 2022 page 5

Titanic 2022 page 5 by ric gustafson

In 1958, a film was being shot about the Titanic. It was called ' A Night To Remember'. Every detail was not spared for this film. Hundreds of extras were used for the lifeboat scenes. One of those who wanted to be an extra in those scenes was 80 year old Lawrence Beesley. On the real Titanic, Beesley was by Lifeboat 13. Beesley saw no more women or children so he jumped into the Lifeboat. Because he was not a union man, he was denied the chance to be in the film. The film was praised by critics, had rave reviews and became the definitive account of the tragedy.
The Titanic was built with 10 decks. This was divided into cabins, social areas and cargo. When the liner went down to the ocean floor, it's decks were still largely intact. Steel had buckled and columns had snapped. Some areas were destroyed and others remained intact. By 1968, the ten decks likely had been reduced to six or seven. After 50 years, the two halves of Titanic were in decent shape.
By 1981, only four or five decks remained of the liner. By the 1980's, interest in the liner was growing. Where was the liner located?. How do we get to it?.
