Amer touched his hand that was missing two fingers. Rats had chewed them to pieces one night as he slept. He saw a group of people from town approach. " Unclean Unclean" he yelled as loud as he could. The women in the group shrieked and all of them quickly walked to the other side of the street.
He touched his face where part of his cheek was missing. He wanted to be cleansed of this horrible condition that he had. He had heard about a Rabbi called Jesus who was coming to town. He had heard that this Rabbi heals people. Amer hoped that when this Rabbi came that he would want to heal him.
