Jesus Calling January 24 by ric Gustafson
Matthew 13:45-46 talks about the kingdom of heaven being like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he has found one of great value, he sells everything and buys it. Jesus is talking about his peace being the pearl of great price. It is a costly gift both for the giver and the receiver. Jesus purchased this peace for us at great cost, with his own blood. When life's storms come, Jesus gives us his peace. Jesus's spiritual blessings come wrapped in our trials. Jesus wants us to rejoice in the face of hardship because he has overcome the world.
