George was more of a friend to Paul than to John. George began listening to country songs. George loved listening to James Burton and Carl Perkins. Perkins wrote a hit song called ' Blue Suede Shoes'. Perkins music was simple. George was intrigued by it. At this time, just for fun skiffle groups were becoming rock and roll bands.
Alan Caldwell changed his skiffle group to a rock and roll name. Caldwell changed his name to Rory Storm. He changed the name of his group to the Hurricanes. The drummer of the now Hurricanes changed his name to Ringo Starr. The Quarrymen at this time wanted to change their drummer. Colin Hanton was out. The Quarrymen went a long time without a drummer.
Mona Best started a night club called ' The Casbah'. She had two sons. Their names were Pete and Rory. On the opening night of the Casbah, 300 local teenagers came. The Quarrymen began to play at many school dances. During this time, Lennon and McCartney had written at least 50 songs. John changed the band's name to the Silver Beatles.
