The author of the book is Obadiah. The date of the book is unclear. The book talks about Edom. It will suffer for participating in Jerusalem's destruction. Edom was a nation descended from Esau. Esau was a twin brother of Jacob. Jacob was the patriarch of Israel. Edom took part in the Babylonian ransacking of Jerusalem. After this ransacking, Obadiah passed down God's judgment.
Obadiah is the shortest book in the Old Testament. Obadiah shows God's faithfulness to his people.
