The author of this book is Matthew. Matthew was called Levi. He was a tax collector. This book was written in AD 70. In this book, Jesus fulfills the Old Testament prophecies of a coming Messiah. This is the first of the Gospels. Gospels means good news. This book ties together the New Testament with the Old Testament. This book was written primarily to a Jewish audience. Matthew talks about Jesus's announcement of his conception. Matthew describes the visit of the wise men. Matthew introduces John the Baptist. Matthew describes the Sermon on the Mount. Matthew also describes several of Jesus's miracles. As Messiah, Jesus is King and deserves our worship.
