The author of the book is not stated. It has been said that it is Luke who was a Gentile physician. The book was written between AD 62 and 80. The book describes the coming of the Holy Spirit at the beginning of the Christian church. The book is called the ' Acts of the Apostles'. It is a bridge between the story of Jesus and the life of the church in the letters that follow. It begins with Jesus's ascension into heaven. Then ten days later, the Holy Spirit comes on the day of Pentecost. The church is born. The disciples begin to preach boldly. The Jewish leaders begin to persecute the new believers. The disciples spread the new church throughout the world. Paul joins Peter in preaching and spreading miracles. The new church is strengthened. The book talks about Stephen the first Christian martyr.
