places in the Bible: Jericho by ric Gustafson
Jericho means in the Hebrew ' City of the Moon God'. The ruins and the modern city of Jericho are on the West Bank on the west side of the Jordan River. References to this city include Jeremiah 39, Joshua 6 and Luke 19. Around 1400 BC, Joshua conquered Jericho at God's direction by marching around the city for seven days. Jesus visited and healed two blind men. Jericho would later be conquered by the Muslims.
