It was July 1942. Irena was patiently waiting at the gate to enter the ghetto. It was very hot. Once inside, she walked to the orphanage. She was excited. Someone found Kaji and brought her to the safety of the orphanage. She wanted to get the little girl out of the ghetto. She decided to put Kaji in the corpse removal cart and get her out that way. She wondered why she was brought back.

Just then, her friend Janek ran up to her.

" What's wrong Janek?".

He shook his head. " I could not get Kaji out".

" Why not?".

" The ghetto is now sealed". A scared look came over his young face. " They are going to start taking us away".

" What do you mean?".

" They want six thousand to relocate to the east". He sighed. " Tomorrow".

Irena embraced her friend. " I'm sorry Janek".

" They want us to gather at the corner of Stawki and Dzika".

" Please be careful".
