The name Zacchaeus means ' pure one'. Nobody called him by that name. According to Luke 19, he was a tax collector in Jericho. He was the chief tax collector and was hated. One day, Jesus came to town. Zacchaeus was a short man. He climbed a tree so he could see Jesus. Jesus stopped, saw him and told him he was coming to his house. Those in the crowd wondered why Jesus wanted to spend time with a chief tax collector. Jesus loves everyone. Praise God.
