The author of the book is the Apostle Peter. He was helped by Silas. The date of the book is AD 65. The book talks about that suffering for the sake of Jesus is noble and good. Even though the Roman Empire is persecuting Christians, Peter reassures everyone that God is still in control. Peter tells the people the proper response to suffering. It is to rejoice and be glad. Life is hard but God is always good.
