' The Honeymooners' has been considered one of the best comedies of all time. Jackie Gleason based his show in a working class neighborhood in Brooklyn New York. Ralph and Alice Kramden lived in an apartment on the fourth floor. Gleason based his show on his experiences with poverty growing up after his father left them.
Because he grew up in poverty, Gleason in his private life smoked and drank too much. His favorite hangout after the show was Toots Shors. This was a Manhattan watering hole. There he liked spending time with friends such as Frank Sinatra.
Gleason had a great supporting cast. Art Carney played Ed Norton. Joyce Randolph played Trixie Norton. And Audrey Meadows played Alice. " Baby, you're the greatest".
