Morales and his men advanced toward the lunette. He noticed the cannon shredding his men with grape shot. He noticed the ditch at the palisade. A lot of his troops had died there.
At the same time, Mr Crockett was busy defending the wall he was on. He was killing Mexican soldiers left and right. A Mexican sharpshooter noticed the coonskin cap. A musket ball went into one of Crockett's eyes. He died instantly.
Morales and the few men he still had retreated to the back of a stone house. His men had been cut down at the palisade wall and in front of the lunette.
He turned to Oradaz. " Prepare the men for the south wall".
