Morales looked at his watch. It was 3:30 am. He watched as his soldiers advanced quietly toward the wooden palisade. They carried two scaling ladders.
The Alamo was quiet. Only a couple of campfires were still burning. Morales knew only a half hour remained before the attack was to begin.
At two minutes to five, Morales was mad. Why was there no bugle to attack?.
At 5:23, Morales finally heard the bugle.
The attack was starting.
