Born to Love: Sharing Love by ric Gustafson
Part of being blessed by God is sharing his love with others. The secret of love is sharing with others. The Apostle Paul stressed that it was more blessed to give than to receive. It is nice to get but it feels better to give. When we share love, our supply never ceases. God blesses us when we share his love with others. Jesus proclaimed in Matthew 10:8 to freely give and we will receive.

I am amazed when I read about God's creation. I marvel at the creation of man. God really designed our body well. According to Psalm 139:14, our body is fearfully and wonderfully made. Our body works in perfect harmony giving us life. The heart is the core of the body. Our life and body depends on the heart. The Bible teaches us that man is spirit, soul and body. We have a wonderful inner being. In our inner being, we express emotions, attitudes, compassions and love. In our inner being lies the heart the glory of love. The glory of the heart is love.

David walked into the ship's library. Carved and wooden shelves adorned the room. He noticed Charlene sitting at one of the tables. In the middle of the table was a Tiffany lamp. He walked up to her. " I figured you might be here".
She smiled. " I was just checking the bibles that they had here".
" Speaking of bibles". He sat down. " My mother loaned me her bible so I could look at it".
" That's great David". She stood up and put the bible she was studying back on the shelf. " You won't regret your decision".
" My mother arranged it so we could sit together tonight for dinner".
She smiled. " My brother and I will look forward to it".

" Yes, I am".
" That's great". He smiled. " You already possess the only investment choice the Bank of Heaven offers".
She gave him a confused stare. " I do".
" It's called an investment in Eternity".
" Mr Whiteriver, I don't understand".
" Mr Blackson over here". He pointed at his adversary. " He has been trying to sell you treasure on earth". " Mrs Englebart, as a member of Christ's kingdom". He put a loving arm around the elderly woman. " You are laying up treasure in Heaven".
She smiled. " So I am investing in Eternity".
" That's right".
She turned to Neo. " Mr Blackson, I have decided to invest with the Bank of Heaven".
" Fine". He put his file back into his black briefcase. He walked toward the front door. " Bryce, hopefully I won't see you again".

" Thank you". He gave his adversary a strange stare. " Mrs Englebart". He pulled out a file from a briefcase. " We at Pharisee Savings and Loan are concerned about the future as much as you are".

" It also says if you simply believe in Jesus". Her voice hesitated. " You will not perish but have eternal life".
" Eternal life?".
Charlene smiled. " That means life forever with God".
He got off the rowing machine and picked up a dumbbell. " All he asks is that you simply believe".

" David, where are we?".
They walked down some iron stairs. They turned a corner. They came upon a very dark noisy room. The noise was dreadful.
David yelled. " This is the turbine engine room".
Stokers covered in soot were shoveling coal into the furnaces.
They opened the door to the lift just as Captain Smith was getting out.
" Good afternoon Captain". David shook his hand. " I'm David Sharpston".
" Yes, I had the opportunity to meet your mother earlier". He smiled at Charlene. " And who is this pretty lady?".
" I'm Charlene Moton".
" Captain, I have heard that this ship is unsinkable".
" This ship has sixteen watertight compartments". He smiled. " If we strike something, we can automatically close those doors and seal off the water".
David grinned. " Very impressive Captain".
Captain Smith began to walk toward the engine room. " Enjoy your afternoon".

It was March 19 1944 and Obersturmbannfuhrer Adolf Eichmann was now 38 years old. He was dressed in a pale gray SS uniform. He had dark blond hair, narrow lips, a long nose and blue eyes. He was leaving Mauthausen with his troops to enter Budapest Hungary. The concentration camp was on the northern edge of the Danube River in upper Austria.
Twelve hours earlier, 11 German divisions had crossed the Hungarian border. Eichmann was ordered by his boss Reichsfuhrer SS Heinrich Himmler to start combing the country for Jews. Those physically fit were to be delivered to labor camps. Those unfit were to be exterminated. It was Eichmann's job to do something with 725,000 estimated Jews in that country.
Eichmann drew up his plan for the Hungarian Jews with 8 years of experience at the job. He was in charge of Jewish Affairs for Department IVB. Eichmann was in charge of executing Hitler's policy regarding the Jews. The first part of his plan was to isolate the Jews. He would make them wear a yellow star. Then he would control all aspects of their lives. To do this he had to have the help of the Hungarian government. He was a master at his job. He had perfected it in countries all over Europe. He was good at his job.

According to Galatians 6:7, we reap what we sow. God wants us to sow seeds of love. Our world is getting less and less friendly. God loved the world so much that he sent his only Son to save it. God wants us to share with each other God's love. God wants us to show love, forgiveness, truth and compassion.
So how do we love others?. First, we tell others about Jesus and his love. Second, we pray and then follow up on the prayer. Third, that our love is real and human. Lastly, through our discipleship love will spread throughout the world.
God's love is a gift to share with others.

God's Love: the magnanimity of God's Love
God's Love: the magnanimity of God's Love by ric Gustafson
When God's children like ourselves stray, does God's love for us flicker. The answer is no. God loves us when we are undeserving of his love. God is slow to anger and abounding in love. Sin brings consequences but his love never changes.
It is God's nature to love us. We are fallible people. We need to accept and receive his love. The world tells us to question God and his love. Satan loves to tell us that God does not love us.
God wants us to know that he loves us and is working all things for our good. God is eager to forgive. He wants us to share his love with others.
God's love has no measure. God's love has no limits. God's love is full of grace.
We need to rejoice in God's love and pass it on.

Bus 203 page 2

It was Wednesday May 11 1960. Two cars were waiting for Bus 203 to arrive. It was late which was unusual. For three weeks, the bus had arrived at this bus stop at 7:30 pm. It was 7:40 and the men inside the two cars were starting to worry. The two vehicles were parked on the corner of Route 202 and Garibaldi Street. They had been casing the small brick bunker house for three weeks.
The plan was that when the suspect walked off the bus, he would be directed to one of the vehicles. The driver would give the impression that the car had broken down. Two other men would try and work on the engine and entice the suspect to help them. Then they would kidnap him.
At 7:44 a bus went by. It was the wrong bus. At 8:05, Bus 203 stopped at the corner where the men were waiting and hoping. Two people got off. A woman walked off in the opposite direction. The other person a male began to walk toward Garibaldi Street.
The men in the two vehicles were hoping the man was Adolf Eichmann.

God's Love: the measure of God's love
God's Love: the measure of God's love by ric Gustafson
As Christians, it is difficult to ask God for something beyond what we think we deserve. God is able and willing for us to know his love.
So why do we forget the fullness of God's love. First, we feel guilt. We feel that we don't deserve God's love. The truth is that Jesus has taken our guilt away. Second, we carry baggage with us. God loves us unconditionally. He always has. He always will. Third, we compare ourselves with others. Thus we feel unworthy, unloved and undeserving.
How wide is God's love?. Wide enough for the whole world he has created. What is the length of God's love?. God loved us so much that he gave his Son's life for us. What is the depth of God's love?. Whoever believes in him will be saved. What is the height of God's love?. God has given us eternal life. Praise God.

It was May 31 1962. A prisoner was led up some wooden steps. He was stopped in front of a noose that was hung from a iron frame. The prisoner had been waiting for word of an appeal. There was none. Shortly before midnight, the prisoner's legs were tied together to prevent him from kicking. The noose was put on. The prisoner declined a hood.
He was given the chance for last words. " Long live Germany, Argentina and Austria" the prisoner exclaimed. His voice hesitated. " I shall not forget them". The executioner completed his task.
The prisoner was cremated and his ashes were put into a nickel canister. Later, the ashes were sprinkled out at sea. There was no grave and no shrine for Adolf Eichmann.

Transformation begins in the tombs of our life. As Mary and Martha waited for Jesus to come, their brother died. Doubt can creep into our life. A divorce, job loss or the death of a family member can bring us to a tomb of darkness. We can run and try to hide from our tomb. Our spiritual transformation begins in our tomb.
We think we know God until disaster strikes. Then we question and ask where is God?. When bad news strikes us, a tomb of despair occurs. Our spiritual transformation begins with God. There is no tomb dark enough for God. Right now, we may be feeling a dark tomb enclosing us. God is with us and the tomb will be opened. We do not belong there.

According to John 11:6, Jesus knew that his friend Lazarus was sick. He waited two days before he came. Martha and Mary tell Jesus that their brother might not live. They waited for Jesus but he never came. Just like Mary and Martha, we live our lives in the in between. This in between time is important in our spiritual life. God makes us wait for his time. Sometimes instead of waiting for Jesus, we try to transform ourselves. While we wait for Jesus, we become more aware of God and ourselves. Time wise, Jesus is never in a hurry.
When Jesus is most absent can be the time when we get to know him best.

Sometimes instead of waiting for Jesus, we try to transform ourselves. While we wait for Jesus, we become more aware of God and ourselves. Time wise, Jesus is never in a hurry.
When Jesus is most absent can be the time when we get to know him best.

Pleasing God: love your enemies
Pleasing God: love your enemies by ric Gustafson
God wants us to love our enemies. He wants to love our neighbors as ourselves. God's love draws us and changes us. When someone has done something wrong to us, it is hard to show kindness back.
So how do we love our enemies?. First, we choose to obey God in this matter of loving others. Second, we trust God to defend us and protect us when we do this. Third, we seek the Holy Spirit to guide us. Fourth, we ask God to take away unloving emotions from us. Lastly, we need to follow Jesus's example because he loved everyone.

David and Charlene stepped out of the lift onto the floor below the Grand Staircase.
Charlene noticed the polished banisters. " These are as beautiful as God's beauty".
David glanced at the posts made with hand carved oak. " Tell me more about the bible?".
" Even though the books were written by different authors". She looked up at the glass skylight. " It all comes together for a specific purpose and message".
He held her hand. " Let's go up to the Boat Deck".
They walked out to notice a steward shining up one of the life boats.
David was curious. " How many boats do you have on board?".
" We have 14 regular and four collapsible". His voice hesitated. " They are capable of carrying 1,176 passengers and crew".
David thought for a moment. " How many passengers do we have?".
" 2,229". He smiled. " No need to worry, we have ten percent more lifeboats than is required".
They walked over to the railing.
" What do you mean that the bible has a message?".
" Jesus Christ has a simple message to share".
" What message is that?".
" Accepting Jesus into your heart, repent your sins and then you will be with Jesus forever".

For our emotional health, we must not let wrath, bitterness, anger, revenge or hatred be our love. We must walk in Jesus's love. If we don't, we will be emotionally ill. We need to walk with God and let the Holy Spirit flow through us. If we draw close to God and his desires become our desires, we will want to walk in his love. Love invests time in others.

According to Romans 12:2, God wants us to be transformed by the renewing of our mind. II Corinthians 3:18 tells us to be transformed into the same image from glory to glory. As Christians, we would never want to exchange a life in Jesus for a life in this world. This world is winding down and God's prophecies are coming true. There is still a lot of work to do and a harvest out there to be gathered. God does not want us to be conformed to this world. God wants us to be part of the kingdom of light.
The other kingdom of this world is the kingdom of darkness. Satan rules this kingdom. James 4:4 says that if we belong to Satan's kingdom, then we are an enemy of God. Satan is sneaky, crafty, a liar and a deceiver. God has a better plan for us. Jesus came to set us free.

As David and Charlene gazed at a spectacular moonlight, Fourth Officer Boxhall was reworking the ship's route on a chart. He was concerned about the route Mr Ismay wanted them to take. The winter had been very warm and pack ice and bergs were worse this year than other years. He was concerned because a coal fire was still blazing and the ship was still steaming at full steam.
First Officer Murdoch walked onto the bridge. " Boxhall, did you get those binoculars?".
" Aye Sir". He handed the leathercase to the officer. " Why can't they have them up in the crow's nest?".
" They don't need them" he replied in a gruff voice. " We can see with them here probably better than they can".

" That's right". Charlene glanced at the bible verse. " God only allows as much as the person can handle".

" Ten degrees port Mr Hichens". Fourth Officer Boxhall watched as the Quartermaster held tightly onto the wheel. " Steady as she goes".
First Officer William Murdoch looked over the bridge rail. " Do you have our binoculars?".
" No Sir". The young officer grinned. " I gave them to Fleet who is up there".
" Do we have another pair?".
" No Sir". He thought for a moment. " I believe that is the only pair we have on board".
Anger came to the First Officer's face. " You make sure he brings that pair to the bridge when he is done".
" Aye Sir".
Captain Smith entered the bridge. His white uniform and white beard made an instant presence. Behind him was Bruce Ismay the Director of the White Star Line.
" When do we arrive at Queensland Captain?".
Captain Smith stroked his beard. " According to my chart, we should arrive there by noon tomorrow".
Ismay picked up a chart. He began to study it. " What is this course?".
" This is the course Mr Boxhall has laid out for us".

Pleasing God: dead to sin
Pleasing God: dead to sin by ric Gustafson
What does it mean for a Christian to be in the flesh?. It means that we are following our old evil desires. These Christians are called carnal Christians. Fleshly Christians are led by their own impulses. When we live according to the flesh, impure thoughts and lustful pleasure will result.
So how can we change?. We need to study Romans 6:6. It says that because our evil desires were nailed to the cross our sin loving body is no longer under sin's control we no longer need to be a slave to sin. This verse tells us that we are no longer under the domination of sin. Jesus died in our place. Our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit.
We have the choice of who control's our life. Do we please God or our flesh.

According to I John 4:19, we love him because he first loved us. God loves us so we love him in return. When we love God, we want to please him. God is worthy to be praised. Our greatest aim in life should be to please God. With everything that we do, we should ask our self does it please God?.
We need to realize that without faith, we cannot please God. God is a personal God who knows everything about us. According to Psalm 139, we cannot hide from God. God will reward those who seek him.
How do we seek God?. First, we ask God to reveal himself to us. Second, we search the Scriptures. Third, we ask God to speak to us and then listen. Lastly, we share God's truth.

A steward, wearing a dark cutaway jacket, walked over to the table. " Good evening, my name is Hughes". He smiled. " I will be your host this evening". He handed out menus. " Tonight, we have oysters on the half shell, salmon mousseline, lamb chops and mint jelly".
As their water goblets were being filled, David wondered how he could talk to Charlene. She was sitting at the other end of the table with her brother. Later, as people finished their dinner and left the table he had his chance. " Mother, I'll be right back".
His mother smiled. She resumed her conversation with the steward.
He sat down next to Charlene. " How was your dinner?".
" Fine". She put her bible on the table. " The lamb chops and mint jelly was very good".
He glanced at her bible. " I don't know much about the bible". He gave her a weak grin. " I wouldn't mind learning more about it".
She glanced at her watch. " Would you like to meet on the deck in twenty minutes?".
" Sure". He smiled. " I'm sure the moonlight is pretty tonight".
Later, David escorted his mother back to her cabin. " I'm going up to the deck to talk to Charlene".
" Ok". She yawned. " I'll see you in the morning".

Heaven: will we be bored there?

There are many people who believe that heaven will be a boring place. Some people believe that hell would be a better place to be. That could not be more wrong. Hell is a place of torment and isolation. God is not present there. Because of that, there is no joy present there. Some people believe that God id boring so heaven must be boring.
Some Christians believe that their life is boring so heaven must be boring. Life will not be boring in heaven. We will help God run the universe. We will have new bodies, renewed minds and we will be full of vision and energy. God created us for good works. We will serve God in heaven.

God created us to explore, seek and rule the earth. The New Jerusalem will be the capital city of the New Earth. This city will have great beauty and natural wonders. The city will be 1,400 miles in length, width and height. This will be home for the King of Kings. The city's walls will be decorated with every kind of precious stones. Each of the city's twelve gates will be made of a single pearl. The streets of the city will be pure gold. In the center of the city will be the river of the water of life. This river will be clear as crystal. It will flow from the throne of God down the middle of the city. On each side of the river will be the tree of life yielding fruit each month.
Praise God that we can look forward to this city where we will spend eternity.

According to Revelation 3:21, to him who overcomes I will give the right to sit with me on my throne. When crowns are mentioned in Scripture, they are a symbol of ruling. Crowns as rewards speaks of our destiny to rule with Jesus.
God says that representatives of every tribe, language, people and nations will reign. Service is a reward not a punishment. The more we serve God now, the greater we will serve him in heaven. God will reward everyone free or slave.
Matthew 5:12 says rejoice and be glad because great is your reward in heaven. Praise God.

People of faith have been passing away for centuries. God's followers are aliens and strangers on this present earth. God's people are looking for a country of their own. They are looking for a better country a heavenly one. According to Hebrews 11, God has prepared a city for them for us. The New Earth will be our country and the New Jerusalem will be the capital city.
God will forever remove sin, death, suffering and heartache. The New Earth will be the Promised Land for God's people. Praise God.

" Mother, here is our table seating schedule".
She put on a new red hat. " Is your new friend and her brother going to dine with us?".

At the end of their table sat a man and a woman. They introduced themselves as Benjamin Guggenheim and Kitty Webb.
David's mother smiled. " They are here".
David turned to see Charlene walk up to the table. She was wearing a full length satin blue dress. Her brother was wearing a fancy man's suit.
David pulled the chairs out for both women. They all sat down.
The other table guests began to arrive.
The last was a large man with brown eyes and a mustache. " Good evening, I'm Colonel Archibald Gracie".

Heaven: living with God forever

We God's believers and God will live forever together on the New Earth. According to Ezekiel 37:27, my dwelling place will be with them I will be their God and they will be my people. God will live among us on the New Earth. In heaven, there will be no more self righteousness or self deceit. Heaven is an extension of God's goodness. Jesus promises us in John 14:3 that he will come back and take us to be with him. Jesus wants to share his glory with us.
We can get to know God now. Through prayer, confess our failings and gather with fellow believers.
Praise God that we can know him now and on the New Earth forever.

the miracle on Titanic page 13 by ric Gustafson
David and his mother walked over to the railing. They heard a blast of the ship's horn. They noticed that the ship's engines had slowed.
"Who were you spending time with?" she asked.
The ship's mighty anchors dropped into place.
" Her name is Charlene Moton". He smiled. " I just met her this afternoon".
A gang plank was set up. A ferry approached and then docked.
" Is she a nice girl?".
They watched as well dressed passengers came off the ferry and then entered the ship.
" She seems nice". His voice hesitated. " I haven't had much time to talk to her yet".
They heard the ship's horn blast again. They knew that the Cherbourg ferry had stopped. They knew that shortly the ship would continue on it's maiden journey.
" Are you going to see her again?".
" Actually, she asked if you and I would join her and her brother for dinner tonight?".
His mother smiled. " What did you tell her?".
" I told her that I would ask you".
" David, tell her that we would love to".
" Ok". He reached the glass door of the smoking room. " I'm going to spend a little bit of time in here".
" I'm going back to my cabin to rest and change for dinner".
" Ok".

Heaven: a new body
Heaven: a new body by ric Gustafson
It has always been God's intention for us to have a new life on a New Earth. God set eternity into our hearts. We will return to an earthly life. The difference is that it will be freed from sin and the curse. We will become new people but still remain the same people.
We will change at death. We will change at the resurrection. But we will still be who we were and who we are. Conversion is changing the old not eliminating it. We will remain the same unique beings that God created. We will have the same history, memory and skills. God will take our fallen corrupt bodies and restore, refresh and renew. The New Earth will be a changed earth. It will be converted and resurrected. Praise God.

Heaven: the curse is reversed
Heaven: the curse is reversed by ric Gustafson
According to Revelation 22:3, no longer will there be any curse. What is this curse?. According to Genesis 3:17, after Adam sinned in the Garden, God cursed the ground. When this curse is reversed, there will be no more painful toil, no thorns or thistles and no more returning to the ground. We will no longer be swallowed up in death.
Because of the curse, Adam could not eat from the tree of life. Death was the only way to get out from under the curse. Jesus is the last Adam and he came to defeat death and restore a relationship with him. Because of the curse, mankind has been heavily affected by sin, death and decay. Jesus will destroy the curse and swallow up death forever.

Heaven: renewal of all things
Heaven: renewal of all things by ric Gustafson
According to Acts 3:21, there will be a time when God will come back and restore everything. Mankind will be restored by God to what he intended us to be. The entire universe will be restored to what it once was.
God will restore everything on earth. Jesus the Messiah will bring the redemption. There will be a redeemed Jerusalem and a redeemed earth. According to Revelation 21:1, the old earth will pass away. Jesus promises that all things will be renewed. God's purpose for us is to rule this earth forever as his children and heirs.

Heaven: running the race
Heaven: running the race by ric Gustafson
According to Revelation 19: 1-5, those in heaven are looking down at us and observing what is going on. Hebrews 12:1 talks about running a race that is marked out for us. It talks about those who have gone before us in a stadium cheering us on. These saints are referred as ' a great cloud of witnesses'. These saints are watching us and cheering us on as we run our race. In heaven, Jesus watches our lives here on this earth very carefully. Angels and saints know what we are doing down here.
According to Luke 15:10, the angels rejoice when one sinner repents.
