St Patrick's Day

St Patrick's Day by ric gustafson

St Patrick was the patron saint of Ireland in the fifth century. He was kidnapped at age 16 from Roman Britain and was taken to Ireland as a slave. He escaped and then returned to Ireland. He is credited with bringing Christianity to the Irish people.
Catholics in Ireland have celebrated the feast of St Patrick since the ninth or tenth century on March 17. In 1903, St Patrick's Day became an official public holiday in Ireland.
In Omaha, 16 percent say they are Irish.
In Nebraska, 14 percent claim to be Irish
In Iowa, 15 percent say they are Irish.
In downtown Omaha for over 130 years, the Ancient Order of Hibernians has sponsored a parade through downtown and the Old Market.
Happy St Patrick's Day to everyone.
