comfort food: cobb salad

comfort food: cobb salad by ric gustafson

In 1937, Robert H Cobb was looking for a midnight snack. He mixed together the ingredients that he could find. Lettuce, avocado, romaine, tomatoes, chicken breast, an egg and french dressing. The chicken and avocado offset the cheese and bacon.
The Brown Derby restaurant in Hollywood loved the Cobb Salad. Hollywood stars such as Clark Gable and Humphrey Bogart loved the new salad the restaurant had on it's menu.
