comfort food: caesar salad

comfort food: caesar salad by ric gustafson

In 1924, Caesar Cardini an Italian immigrant had opened a restaurant in Mexico. One night after a huge influx of unexpected patrons, the restaurant was running out of salad ingredients. He brought out some unique ingredients, tossed them together in a bowl and the caesar salad was born.
Some food historians argue that Italian immigrant Giacomo Junia tossed the first caesar salad in Chicago. Junia named his salad after Julius Caesar.
In 1948, Cardini marketed a unique salad dressing called the original caesar dressing.
