No Time prelude

No Time prelude by ric gustafson

Bryson Mitchell pulled the Ford Fusion into the empty stall. He was in a hurry. Tomorrow was Thanksgiving and he needed to buy a few groceries. He wanted to bring something for the turkey dinner his family had every year. He glanced at his watch.
" Oh no!". The time had not changed. " Now what!". The watch was special to him. He shook the watch.
" This was a birthday present".
He pondered what to do. He could get his groceries and worry about the watch later. Or, he smiled. He took out his cell phone. On Chrome, he looked up local watch repair shops.
He smiled again. There was one open not far from where he was.
He sneered at the non working watch.
" Stupid watch".
He backed out of the stall. He turned onto Advocate Road.

" He does". Kelly took her blindfold off. " John 3:16 says so".
He snarled. " What does that say?".
" For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son".
" Who's that Jesus?".
" That whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life".
Maurice began to cry. " I want to be saved".
" I know". Kelly hugged him. " Just simply ask and believe".
Charles came out from behind the tree.
" I'm sorry Charles". He walked over to him. " Please forgive me".
" God already has". He smiled. " So have I".
Detective Springer walked up with handcuffs. He handcuffed Maurice and took him away.
Kelly hugged her father. " I knew you would save me".
" How did you know that?".
" I remembered what you promised me at the county fair".

The End

As he held Kelly's hand, he slowly led her through the clearing. All of a sudden, he heard a cell phone go off from behind a tree. " Get down". He pulled her down behind a bush. " Don't make a sound".
Charles could see how close they were.
" Kelly, are you ok?".
She heard the soothing voice of her father. " Daddy".
" I told you to be quiet". He glared at her. " I should of killed you a long time ago".
Kelly smiled. " Maurice, God loves you".
" Maurice, let my daughter go".
Maurice now stared at Kelly. " What do you mean God loves me?".

Maurice held the hand of a blindfolded Kelly. They were walking toward a nearby barn. Just then, Maurice noticed a small flicker of light coming from one of the barn's windows. Fear crept into his mind.
Kelly stubbed her toe on a fallen limb. She winced. " Where are we going?".
Maurice looked around. He noticed a huge clearing behind the barn. " My other van is not far away".
" Please don't kill me".
" If that was the case". He held her hand tighter. " I would of done it already".
As they walked into the clearing, he noticed Kelly mumbling to herself. " What are you doing?".
" Praying". She grinned. " For you".
Just then, Maurice's heart began to melt ever so slightly.

From behind a tree, Maurice watched as Charles splintered the front door of the cabin with an axe. He walked in slowly with Katie behind him. He heard nothing as they quietly walked toward the untidy kitchen. He turned on the kitchen light switch. It was messy. There were bowls in the kitchen sink that looked like they had beef stew in them. Then Charles heard a scream.
" Charles, come in here".
He walked into a small bedroom. Katie was crying. On the small unmade bed were four heavy ropes.
" Who could of done this?". She sobbed. " She must of been tied up the whole time".
Maurice could see the bedroom light on from behind the tree.

Charles stopped the SUV at a log cabin that had ' Office' on the front sign. " I'll go in and talk to them". He got out and walked up a gravel sidewalk. He opened a squeaky wooden door. He walked inside. At a wooden counter was a young man.
He looked up. " May I help you?". His name tag said ' Mike'.
" You sure can Mike". Charles smiled. " I can't remember which cabin my friend rented".
He pulled out from underneath the counter a burgundy register. " What's your friend's name?".
" Maurice Buckley".
Mike studied the register. " I don't see a Maurice Buckley registered here".
A young man walked in and emptied the trash.
Charles gave him a sad stare. " Are you sure?".
The young man put a liner in the trash can. " Who are you looking for?".
Charles smiled. " A Maurice Buckley".
The young man grinned. " I know him".
Mike gave him a puzzled expression. " You do?".
" On your day off". He smiled. " He came in and rented Cabin 4".

Maurice angrily tossed his cell phone into the wicker chair. " He knows it's me".
" Of course he knows". Kelly grinned at her kidnapper. " He's a smart man".
He picked up his rifle. " I would disagree with that statement".
" He could help you".
" I don't need help from him". He pointed the rifle at Kelly. " Or from you either".
" I'm sure he would help you".
" Don't push me". He gave her a sneer. " Or you'll be sorry".
Kelly could tell he was serious. " Sorry".
He lowered the rifle. " We'll have beef stew again for supper".
She grinned. " Again".
" After we eat, we're going to be moving out".
She gave him a surprised look. " Where to?".
" Someplace close".

Job: Job 38-42

Job: Job 38-42 by ric gustafson

Job is a real believer. He fears God and turns away from evil. He asks why are all these things happening to him. Job wants to speak to God. The Lord replied to Job. He says are you God. He says look at everything around you. In Job 40, he is awed by the presence of the Creator. Job asks why do I suffer?. He says that he does not deserve it. Then Job admits that the Lord is God. Job realizes that this is a world full of sin. He realizes that he has to live in a world of suffering and death. This is a world of sorrow and pain.
Job is told that the Lord is more powerful than Satan. Job 42 is the end of the story. Job's patience and perseverance is rewarded.
Job learns of the Lord's compassion and mercy. There is blessing in the end.

The End

A man named Elihu answers Job for God. Elihu is of God. Elihu states that God does speak. Elihu says God speaks to us through pain. Job 36 talks about God as the Creator. God speaks through our storms. In Job 37 God uses storms to show how awesome he is. God is great in power and will not violate justice. We are to fear God. These chapters are Elihu's speeches.
Next are God's speeches. Praise God's name.

Job: Job 29-31

Job: Job 29-31 by ric gustafson

In Job 29-31, Job remembers his life before tragic events happened. He laments in Job 30. In Job 31, he appeals for justice. Job thinks about the good ole days in Job 29. He thinks about his relationship with God. He misses an intimate walk with God.
Job 30 is Job's final lament to God. He feels hopeless and desperate. Job seeks justification. Job feels like he is alone, despised and rejected. He feels that God does not treat him as righteous.
And now we come to Job 31. Job makes his final appeal. He worries about sins that he may not have repented. Job has run out of patience. And now he makes his case. He wants God to answer him. He is a suffering believer. He needs to know how he stands with God.
He will find out his answer.

Job: Job 28

Job: Job 28 by ric gustafson

Job 19 to 28, Job is feeling pain and debating with his friends. In Job 28, he takes a tranquil contemplative pause for thought. Job is searching for wisdom. Job asks why?. He cannot find this out. Wisdom is priceless and yet unobtainable at the same time. So far in the story of Job there has been terrible human tension. Now Job wants to know why?.
In Job 28:28, God speaks since the start of the book. He directs us away from agonized questions and to himself. God knows the answers but has not revealed them. It is easy to ask questions and ask why me?. God wants us to humbly worship him and turn from evil. God wants us to be his followers.
God loves us more than anything else. Praise God's name.

102 minutes page 4 by ric gustafson

Chief Joseph Pfeifer walked through the lobby of the North Tower. He noticed cracked marble and shattered windows. Exploding jet fuel caused an explosion in the lobby. Pfeifer was the first fire commander to arrive. He watched outside as the plane flew into the upper floors of the Tower. Right away, Pfeifer called in a first and second alarm. Nineteen fire trucks began to arrive. Overall, more than 1000 firefighters reported for duty. Included in that group were Pfeifer's two brothers. It was decided to not try to extinguish the fire but help people to evacuate. The fire would burn itself out.
The next task was getting the firefighters upstairs. But how?. All of the elevators were out of service. Some of the elevators were stuck between floors with people trapped inside.
Pfeifer and others knew that they would have to walk. Firefighters clothing weighed 29 pounds. A mask and oxygen tank added another 27 pounds. Firefighters also carried fifty feet of hose called rollups. That weighed 30 pounds. One firefighter also carried a 150 foot rope weighing 22 pounds. They carried all this into the stairways crowded with fleeing people. It was a chaotic scene.

Job wonders is God for me or against me?. Job 19 focuses on this question. Job wonders why God is so hostile toward him. Job wonders why his friends do not support him. Job believes God has isolated him.
The truth is Job still loves God. Job knows he will see his Redeemer after he dies. Job knows that he belongs to him. Who is the Redeemer?. It is the living God.
When tragedy strikes in our lives, we will ask why me?. It is natural to ask is God for me or against me?.

Job wants to be in the presence of God. This longing is in Job 14. In Job 23, he does not want to be cast away. Job and God have a troubled relationship. God and Job loved each other very much. This is true worship revealed by suffering. Praise God's name.

Job is terribly alone. Job is alone in his grief. His wife appears for an argument. Three friends come to see Job. The friends are silent, they have nothing to say. Job is suffering. Job can only look back.
In Job 3, he curses the night of his conception. Job is obsessed with death. Even in his darkness, Job cannot avoid God. Job knows he has to deal with God. In Job 3, God is always with Job. At the end of Job 3, Job still feels terribly alone.

Job: Job 1 and 2

Job: Job 1 and 2 by ric gustafson

There was a man who was healthy, wealthy and wise. We do not know where Job lived. Job was a real believer. Job was a true worshiper and blameless. Job was blessed by God.
One day, Satan comes to the Lord's Council Chamber. He is to give a report. He is asked what he has found. The Lord said have you considered my servant Job?". Satan is not impressed. He said take everything away he will curse you. Satan was told he could take away what he has but not touch him himself.
In Job 1:13-22, everything is taken away from Job. His servants are killed. His sheep and shepherds are killed. His children die in a freak storm. In Job 2, Satan goes back to the Lord's Council Chamber. He is given permission to give Job physical suffering. Even his wife tells him to curse God and die. Even with all this agony, Job still praises God. His faith in God holds up. Praise God's name.

Is the words that we say pleasing to God or not?. Do we convey words of praise or not?. Do sinful words come out of our mouth?. Or does words of praise and thanksgiving come out of our mouth?. Psalm 126:2 says our mouths were filled with laughter our tongues with songs of joy. God will give us the right words to say. Psalm 126:3 says the Lord has done great things for us and we are filled with joy.
God loves us more than anything else.

God cannot be approached by sinful humanity. God is convicting. Every believer must seek holiness. Praise God's name.
