the end of days: the meeting of the witnesses page 2 by ric Gustafson
Carlo walked up to the wooden podium and stared at the large crowd of witnesses. " Please consider the benefits and privileges of being a united global community". He cleared his throat, reached beside him and then took a sip of bottled water. He gagged. " What the!". He spit it out onto the floor. The plastic bottle contained blood. Carlo frowned and then looked around. " Who did this?".
Just then, he noticed the two witnesses standing at the back of the large crowd.
" Woe to the one who would threaten the vessel of the Most High God".
Rage came over Carlo's face. " Your time is coming". His voice became louder. " I swear I will kill you both".
" Woe to the imposter of the sealed followers of the Messiah".
" The two of you are confined to the area near the Wailing Wall". He shook his fist at the two. " Or you will be shot".

Rory and Carlo Simpato quietly walked up to ten feet before the fence.
" Hail Carlo Simpato" yelled someone from a nearby crowd.
One of the two witnesses heard them approach. " Woe to the enemy of the Most High God".
Carlo grinned. " I am not the enemy of God". He pointed toward the growing crowd. " These fine folks say I am the Most High God".
The other witness raised his head. " A sword will pierce your head and you will die".
Carlo looked unfazed. " I have heard enough of your lies".
" Until the due time, you have no authority over God".
Carlo grinned again. " I shall win over the two of you and your deceitful lies".
" Who wins was determined before the beginning of time".
Carlo smiled at the two. " We shall see".

Carlo Simpato and Rory were discussing various One World financial projects when the intercom rang.
Carlo pushed the intercom button. " Yes".
" Sir, I think you should see this".
They walked into a cramped weather room. They began to stare at a One World global weather screen.
" The reports that I have been getting from all over the One World communication network is incredible".
Carlo looked at the young operator. " What is it Nixon?".
" I've been getting reports of giant hailstones coming down from the sky".
Carlo sneered. " We've seen hailstones before".
" Half of these hailstones had fire shooting out of them".
Carlo looked shocked. " What!". He turned to Rory. " What do you think of all this?".
Rory studied the screen. " My mother told me about the wrath of the Lamb and the trumpet judgments". He studied the screen again. " This must be the first one".
The operator listened to his headset. " Sir, I'm starting to get reports of blood pouring down from the sky".
" Blood?".
" Yes Sir". He kept listening. " I'm also getting reports that up to a third of all trees, a lot of the green grass has already been burned up".
Carlo banged a fist on a nearby table. " We will not be beaten".

Rory walked into his mother's apartment. " Hello Mother".
" Oh Rory" his mother replied as she put her bible down. " I've been reading Revelation 8".
He frowned. " What wrath is God throwing at us now?".
" Revelation 8:5 says an angel will take a censer, fill it with fire and throw it to the earth".
Rory shook his head. " And what will be the result of that?".
" Noise, thunder, lightning and an earthquake".
He stared at his mother. " Mother, do you really believe all of that?".
" Of course Rory". She handed him her bible. " Revelation 8 also tells of seven angels with seven trumpets".
He looked at his watch. " I need to go help Mr Simpato with something". He quietly kissed her cheek. " I'll see you later".
" Rory be careful" she replied with a sigh. " I don't trust him".
He kissed her cheek again. " I'll be careful".

Romans 15:13 says may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him.
As believers in Jesus Christ, we need and must have hope. Our hope needs to be steadfast and true. When we become believers in Jesus, that hope is instilled in us. When we stand at the cross, that bright future is realized and there is hope.

because of the cross: Easter is every day
because of the cross: Easter is every day by ric Gustafson
I Peter 3:18 says that Christ also suffered. He died once for the sins of all us guilty sinners.
T S Eliot said that we call this Friday good. This same Christ walked the earth 2000 years ago. This same Christ performed miracles, healed the sick and cast out demons. This same Christ loved the unlovable, forgave the sinner, taught his disciples. This same Jesus was unjustly despised and convicted. This same Jesus hung dying on a cross one dark and terrible Friday. This same Jesus rose from the dead three days later.
Because of the victory of the cross, the joy of Easter is every day.

a slice of pizza page 1 by ric Gustafson
Is there anybody who does not love pizza?. I can remember going to a place called Big Fred's and enjoying their pizza since I was a kid.
So where did pizza start?. Records show pizza going back as far as 6th century BC. Soldiers led by Persian king Darius the Great. They would bake flatbread and cover it with cheese and dates on their battle shields. In the 16th century, Neapolitans that would later become people from Naples began to enjoy tomato topped pies. In 1830, a restaurant in Naples began offering pizzas cooked in wood ovens. Queen Margherita of Savoy in 1889 enjoyed her pizza so much it was named after her.
Pizza arrived here in the late 1800's when Italian Americans in their homes and neighborhoods began to make them. Soldiers returning from World War II began craving that Italian dish. The pizza craze had started.
Next we will look at Neapolitan style pizza.

what do you see: perception or reality
what do you see: perception or reality by ric Gustafson
Has it happened to you where a life situation completely baffles you. The circumstances appear complex and disturbing. That our world is spinning out of control and we feel as if we are going around in circles.
The story of the prophet Jonah is an example. God told him to go to the city of Nineveh and warn the people of impending judgment. He was terrified and probably viewed the situation as suicide. Nineveh was the capital of the Assyrian Empire and known for it's brutality and terrorism. That was Jonah's perception but that wasn't God's reality.
Instead of doing what God told him to do, Jonah fled. He boarded a ship and sailed toward Tarshish. A storm came up. It wasn't the storm but Jonah's sin that was the problem. Jonah ended up overboard and into a belly of a whale. Jonah thought that things could not get any worse but God was giving him another chance.
He was upchucked onto dry land and he went to Nineveh to do what God had commanded him to do. The point of this story is that life's circumstances are different than God's perception of the same situation. When we see obstacles he sees opportunities. When we see predicaments he sees providence. When our wheels are spinning he sees grace.
Proverbs 3: 5-6 says trust in the Lord with all your heart and he shall direct our path. Like Jonah, we need to trust God in every situation.

because of the cross: I can love others by ric Gustafson
Romans 12:10 says be devoted to one another in brotherly love. John 13:35 says by this all men will know that you are my disciples if you love one another. We have a love for our spouses, children, parents and friends. This love is based on who they are, what they mean to us and how they make us feel. The Cross changes that. Because of the Cross, this love is deeper and unconditional. It is a love that we love those who hurt us, make mistakes and it makes us love at all times. That means we can love the ungrateful, the unfair, the unjust, the imprisoned, the lonely, the homeless, the liar, the cheater, the thief, the murderer, the abuser and the unloved.
Only because of the cross can we love and be loved unconditionally.

Goebbels page 2
Goebbels page 2 by ric Gustafson
Joseph and Magda Goebbels wrote a farewell letter to Harald Quandt who was Magda's son from her first marriage. Goebbels called Hitler's adjutant Gunther Schwagermann that they intended to take their own lives and the lives of their children. In their beds, the children were given morphine injections and then Magda crushed a cyanide capsule into each of their mouths.
At 20:30 on May 1 1945, Goebbels put on his coat and hat. He walked hand in hand with Magda out of the bunker by the garden exit. Not long after, Schwagermann found their motionless bodies. Both had taken poison. Then, according to their wishes, both were shot once or twice. Then gasoline was poured on their bodies and then set on fire. Their corpses were immediately in flames.
Except for Goebbels, all of the top officials of the Nazi regime tried to flee. Himmler was caught, Bormann was killed trying to escape from the Reich Chancellery. Hermann Goring and Albert Speer surrendered to the Allies.
Goebbels was the only one who followed Hitler into suicide along with his entire family.
To the end, he was totally committed to Adolf Hitler.

It was April 30 1945 and Dr Joseph Goebbels had become the Chancellor of the Reich for only a few hours. He was now trying to avoid his own suicide and he now wrote to the commander in chief of the Soviet forces. Hitler had made him Chancellor and Grand Admiral Karl Donitz as President of the Reich. Goebbels now wanted to propose a ceasefire and negotiate peace terms with the Soviet commander.
Chief of the general staff, General Hans Krebs delivered the letter to Major General Vasily Chuikov who was commander of the 8th Guards. He contacted Marshal Georgy Zhukov who was commander of all the forces attacking Berlin. Zhukov told Soviet Dictator Joseph Stalin about the letter. Stalin replied that there would be no ceasefire. Stalin wanted all the German forces to surrender. Krebs told Goebbels the reply on May 1. Goebbels informed Donitz of Hitler's death and then told the bunker's staff that they were free to break out and save themselves.
Goebbels knew the time had come to plan his own death and the death of his family.

the return of the ding ding man
the return of the ding ding man by ric Gustafson
Slowly he threw the snow up on top of the retaining wall. He stopped because the heavy snow had begun to hurt his back. ' Boy it's cold out here' he thought to himself as he blew on his gloved hands. ' Hot chocolate right now sure sounds good' he thought as he picked up another shovel of snow and threw it on top of the retaining wall.
He was stamping his cold feet when he heard that familiar sound. He smiled and walked over to the curb. He heard the ding ding and saw the plain white truck coming slowly down the street. ' Maybe he has some hot chocolate' I wondered. I stepped out into the snowy street.
The white truck stopped in front of him.
The small window opened. " Can I help you?".
" I'm freezing and wanted to know if you had any hot chocolate".
A young dark bearded man, who was wearing a white parka, shook his head. " Sorry, no hot chocolate".
He blew into his gloved hands. " Do you have any hot drinks at all?".
" Sorry".
" So why are you driving around dinging that bell?".
" So I can tell people about a free gift".
He stamped his feet. " What gift is that?".
" The free gift of eternal life".
" How do I get this free gift?".
" Simply believe in me".
" No hot chocolate".
" Sorry".
He shook his head and walked back to his shovel. " All I wanted was some hot chocolate".
Jesus, with tears in his eyes, closed his serving window. He started the truck. He dinged the bell and continued on his journey for lost souls.

Nahum 1:7
Nahum 1:7 by ric Gustafson
Albert tried to catch his breath as a flaming arrow landed next to his left foot. He ran toward a large tree as a flaming arrow landed next to him. He jumped behind a large boulder. He noticed what looked like a steel fortress in the distance. He stood up and began to run toward it. Flaming arrows dropped all around him.
He stopped next to a huge steel door. He rang the door knocker as hard as he could. All of a sudden, the door opened to reveal a large room that could hold several people. A fire was blazing in a nearby fireplace.
A young man with a huge smile walked in. " Come in". He shut the door and bolted it shut.
Albert could hear a flaming arrow hit the steel door. " I was running from Satan's flaming arrows and I saw your fortress".
The young man smiled and poured a glass of water from a nearby pitcher. " You are safe here". He handed him the water. " Satan's flaming arrows cannot penetrate this fortress". He grinned as Albert drank the water. " I also knew you were coming".
Albert put down the glass. " How did you know I was coming?".
" I saw you running and dodging Satan's flaming arrows". He poured more water into his cup. " I knew you were coming and got the place ready for you". Albert began to feel safe and protected. He finished drinking the water and put down the glass. " Thank you for protecting me and keeping me safe".
The young man smiled. " You are always safe and protected here".

the ding ding man
the ding ding man by ric Gustafson
I was recently working in my yard when I heard that familiar sound.
The summer was hot. I heard the ding ding bell and I ran toward the curb. My mouth watered in the thought of some cool ice cream.
The white truck stopped. A little window opened. " Can I help you?" asked a young dark bearded man. He wiped his hands on a white apron.
Sweat dripped into my eyes and stung them. " I'm looking for ice cream".
He grinned at me. " I'm not selling ice cream".
I wiped sweat from my forehead. " So what are you selling?".
He smiled. " That people would simply believe in me, repent of their sins and they will be with me forever".
I kept wiping sweat from my eyes. " Not selling ice cream".
" Nope, just the free gift of salvation".
I gave him a puzzled stare. " Why do you ding ding that bell but you don't sell any ice cream".
" I ding my bell for the lost and anybody willing to listen to my simple message".
" Sorry" I said out loud. I walked back to my yard.
Jesus watched with tears in his eyes and sadness in his heart. He dinged the bell twice. The pure white truck slowly began to travel on in search of the spiritually lost.

' as is'
' as is' by ric Gustafson
I walked into the store and turned left to the gift return area. There were four employees behind the return counter. All four were helping customers. I walked up as soon as an employee was available.
" Can I help you?" asked a young dark bearded man.
" Yes, I would like to return my salvation".
" Sorry" was his reply. " Salvation is not a gift you can return or exchange".
Tears came to my eyes. " Surely God knew about my many flaws and sin".
" Oh yes, my Father already knew that" he exclaimed with a smile. " He wanted to pay full price for your salvation anyway".
" But I am ' as is' with so may sins" I said as I wiped tears from my eyes. " Why does he want me for?".
" My Father paid a full price for you with the best guarantee".
" What guarantee is that?".
" A forever guarantee".
" What is that?".
" It is a guarantee that is good for all of eternity".
I looked at the clock on a nearby wall. " I need to go".
Jesus smiled as he watched the customer leave. " Go in peace and serve my Father".

Jesus heals yesterday and today. If we pray and obey God's Word, Jesus will heal us. When we keep God's Word, Jesus speaks through the Holy Ghost to every believer. Through the words of Jesus, life comes to our souls, spirits and our physical bodies. Jesus's words are medicine to our bodies through faith.

Christ Revealed: praise and healing
Christ Revealed: praise and healing by ric Gustafson
The story of the paralytic man from Mark chapter 2 talks about praise and healing. The friends of the man dropped him through the roof to Jesus. Jesus was given a chance to show his power. He forgave the man all of his sins. Then Jesus told him to rise, take up his bed and walk.
Jesus wants you to experience more than a miracle. Jesus wants to pour out and baptize you with the Holy Spirit.
Thank you Jesus for your praise and your healing.

it is your destiny page 2
it is your destiny page 2 by ric Gustafson
You only have one life. You only have one destiny and only one life to discover it. You can't go back, rewind, start over or pass go. One chance is all you get. This is real life and we go by God's rules. And when we go around life once, then we need to give an account of our lives. We cannot see the future and we cannot cheat. We cannot blame anyone for our mistakes. We will be given his Word and his promises. We are subject to his laws and yet given free will to disobey him.
In the end, we will face eternity and only answer to God. We will live in only one of two places for all of eternity. Our destiny started at birth and will end at any moment.
The question we need to ponder this day is where will we spend eternity?.

I give you something to ponder. If you were to die today, would I spend eternity in Heaven with God?. It is the most important question that you will ever have to answer. I John 5:13 says that if we believe on the name of the Son of God that we may know that we have eternal life. So how do we know?.
First, we need to understand that we need a personal Savior. We have sin in our lives and Romans 3:23 says that all have sinned. Death apart from God is in a place called Hell. Second, we must believe that Jesus wants to be our Savior. Jesus on the cross died and paid for all of our sins. Now we have a chance to be with him forever. Finally, we must place our full trust in Jesus as our personal Savior. Romans 10:13 says that whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
We need to simply ask Jesus into our hearts. Profess that we are sinners and ask him to be our personal Savior. We need to put full trust in him alone and accept his free gift of eternal life.
That is the most important decision we will ever make.

Hitler's headquarters at Rastenburg was called ' Wolfsschanze' or ' Wolf's Lair'. At the time of East Prussia it laid amid the Masurian Lakes. The soil was compounded of centuries of corpses. It was here in 1410 that the battle of Tannenberg had been fought. This area was bleak, dark and forbidding. In this headquarters compound was a camp of huts and underground concrete bunkers. Just beyond the wooded low hills of this desolate place was the death camps of Stutthof and Treblinka. To get access inside this place, one had to know the Fuhrer well.
Stauffenberg told the others that he would do the job himself. One of his disadvantages was his physical makeup. He was severely wounded in battle and lacked in dexterity. In the summer of 1943, a plan was formed to show Hitler new uniforms for soldiers on the Eastern Front. Freiherr von dem Bussche and Ewald Heinrich von Kleist were to wear bombs around them and blow up themselves and Hitler. The plan failed. Kleist tried again in January 1944 and again the plan failed.
On July 5 1944, Julius Leber, one of the conspirators, was arrested by the Gestapo. Stauffenberg knew he had to act and act quickly before they were found out.

Under Operation Valkyrie, Stauffenberg would become the Under Secretary of State for War. Field Marshal Ludwig Beck would be the new President or Head of State. The Chancellor would be either Julius Leber or Carl Goerdeler. The Minister of War would be General Olbricht or Field Marshal von Witzleben. In charge of the police would be Tresckow.
The question became how to eliminate Adolph Hitler. Stauffenberg knew that nonviolent or legal means would do no good. Stauffenberg knew that even though he was a loyal German, a Catholic, an officer with personal, moral and spiritual values, he knew that Hitler had to die. He knew also that with his own conscience that he had to do it.
Stauffenberg knew that it was hard to know Hitler's whereabouts in advance. Hitler avoided fixed schedules and traveled at the last minute. He wore a bullet proof cap and waistcoat. When he traveled it was with an entourage which included his personal cook, driver, doctor and Security Service personnel. He always used his own car and had a private plane.
After Stalingrad in 1943, Hitler traveled less and less. He refused to visit hospitals and bombed cities. He shunned crowds and made very few public appearances.
He visited Berlin and the Berghof less and less now. By 1944, Hitler had changed dramatically physically. He stooped, a tremor developed in his hands, his left foot dragged behind him and his face was gaunt and haggard.
Stauffenberg was now interested in the place where Hitler was spending most of his time.

This bible verse states that the Word became flesh and took up residence in us. When Jesus took on flesh, he pitched his tent among us. This bible verse some say is the greatest verse about incarnation. God the Son became flesh and took up residence among us.
Jesus is the God who made us. Jesus is the life who sustains us. Jesus is the light who illumines us. Jesus is the message who excites us. Jesus is the Savior who redeems us. Jesus is the friend who dwells among us. Jesus is the Lord who surpasses us. Jesus is the Son who blesses us.

When Stauffenberg joined the conspirators things changed. He was able to save Allied airmen from being executed thanks to his cousin, Helmuth James von Moltke. Plans had to be made for control of the country once Hitler was taken out of the picture. The existing institutions had to be dismantled and the war brought to an end. That would be difficult because Hitler had created an overlapping authority. There was OKH, OKW, OKM, RSHA, the SS and the Gestapo.
There was a blueprint in existence endorsed by Hitler himself. It was code named ' Valkyrie'. This Operation would mobilize and deploy the Reserve Army which numbered more than 4 million by 1944. These troops would occupy cities, impose martial law and wield supreme authority. Operation Valkyrie was entirely in the hands of the army. Stauffenberg and the others would have the administrative machinery in place. Their plan was to release a cover story and then mobilize the Reserve Army throughout the Reich. Officials would be arrested and then a coup d etat would happen. Tresckow's secretary Margarethe von Oven would type secret orders. She was to wear gloves so the documents could not be identified. Many details had to be worked out.

After the attempts on Hitler's life in 1938, opportunities began to recede. Because of Hitler's military victories, the chances became even fewer. Any rare chance was dogged by bad luck. Among the conspiracy lacked authority. By 1943, Hitler's victories made it hard to attempt a successful coup.
One coup idea was to put Hitler on trial and impeach him. The conspirators knew that to try and topple the regime would be to risk full scale civil war. It would divide the army and that was hard to contemplate. They knew that in order to have a successful coup, the SS would have to be neutralized. Not only were they concerned about eliminating Hitler, they were also worried about protecting their country, homes and families.
The Western Allies were not helping because they only wanted a unconditional surrender. The need to eliminate Hitler and his hierarchy was becoming more obvious. The conspirators debated, quarreled and worked at cross purposes with each other. No matter how much they talked, prayed, complained and planned, they were incapable of action.
At this time, a person will join their ranks and change their thinking.

In January of 1943, Major General Henning von Tresckow was stationed with Army Group Centre on the Russian front. He tried twice to kill Hitler. On March 13 1943 Hitler visited Army Group Centre at Smolensk. Tresckow was to have troops fire on Hitler as he passed by vehicle to his aircraft. At the last moment, Hitler went by another route. The second time Tresckow and Lieutenant Fabian von Schlabrendorff prepared two British bombs that looked like bottles of Cointreau. Schlabrendorff took the parcels to the airport that Hitler's aircraft was take off from. The parcels were activated and put on Hitler's plane. Hitler made it to Minsk because the parcels failed to explode. The duo tried a third time to kill Hitler on March 21 1943. Hitler had planned to tour an exhibition at the Berlin Arsenal which was located on the Unter den Linden. Fellow conspirator Colonel Freiherr Christophe von Gersdorff was to pack explosives around himself and blow Hitler and himself up. Something bothered Hitler because he made a short speech and then did not view any of the exhibits. His visit after his speech was two minutes. It failed and Tresckow quite trying.

In September of 1939, Colonel General Kurt von Hammerstein tried to engineer an assassination of Hitler. He was a former Commander in Chief of the army and was in charge of an army on the French front. He was not involved in the organized conspiracy but had a hatred for Hitler. Acting mostly alone he tried to lure Hitler to his headquarters. Hitler never came and the General died from cancer in 1943.
General Halder along with Panzer commander Heinz Guderian and Henning von Tresckow laid plans to arrest Hitler and most of the Party hierarchy as well. Immediately things went wrong. A bomb was planted in a Munich beer hall on November 8. They were unable to get the help of Field Marshal Walter von Brauchitsch so Halder called off the operation.
One of Halder's co conspirators was Field Marshal Erwin von Witzleben. In 1941, he came up with a plan to assassinate Hitler in Paris. As a parade was occurring down the Champs Elysees, he was to be shot by two members of Witzleben's staff. Hitler declined to come back to the French capital. Witzleben was relieved of his command and forced into retirement.

who?: who believes
who?: who believes by ric Gustafson
To Christians, the act of believing is everything. It means placing our full trust in the truth of God's Word and committing ourselves by faith to Jesus and his kingdom. When someone comes to God he must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. We believe because of the evidence.
Belief is a personal choice. When we believe in Jesus, trust in Jesus with all of our hearts and live by faith we are believers. When we believe in Jesus as Lord and Savior we are a believer. When we believe, blessings from God come into our lives.
God blesses those who believe in him. Will you believe?.

This bible verse touches on two of the greatest mysteries in Christianity. How can God be one God and yet exist in three persons. How can Jesus be one person yet possess two natures fully God and fully human. Christ and the Word was God and was with God in the beginning. Jesus was God yet distinct from God.
This verse says that Jesus preexisted that in the beginning was the Word. This verse says that Jesus coexisted that the Word was with God. This verse also points out Jesus's divine existence and the Word was God. The Trinity and Jesus are imponderable.
Praise God.

There was anti German resistance in Nazi occupied Europe. In occupied France, Holland, Belgium, Denmark, Norway, Poland and Greece resistance activities included smuggling airmen to safety, engaging in sabotage and guerrilla operations.
An organized German resistance was in place before 1938. It consisted of senior military officers, civil servants, international diplomats, jurists and men of letters. Influential people included Hjalmar Schacht, Julius Leber, Carl Gordeler, Colonel General Ludwig Beck, Admiral Wilhelm Canaris.
One estimate is that there was at least forty six attempts on Hitler's life from 1921- 1945. The Anschluss of Austria occurred on March 11 1938. Chief of Staff Ludwig Beck prepared a statement for Hitler objecting to the oncoming war. Beck was replaced by General Fritz Halder.
One person who was a no stranger to anti Hitler circles was 31 year old Captain Claus von Stauffenberg.
There was a plan to oust Hitler on September 28 1938 but failed because of the infamous Munich Conference the next day.

All of scripture begins with these ten words. This is the bedrock of the bible and the totality of the truth. God is, he creates, he speaks and gives real hope. This bible verse gives us roots. The first book of the bible gives us the history of creation, sin, human society and a plan for redemption. This bible verse gives us a future. God has a purpose and plan for time and eternity. Without God we live in a dying universe with no significance.
Praise God.

Praise God.

who?: who knows
who?: who knows by ric Gustafson
God wants to give us a vision for a new venture to serve him. We need to trust God when it comes to our personal lives. Because of our sinful nature, it's easy to doubt ourselves. Will I succeed or fail?. Do I have the time, money, ability, gifts, education and knowledge?. The fact is that we do not have an answer. God knows what we do not know.
If we have a vision, a dream or an idea, God will bless it. But it must serve other people and bring honor and glory to God.
What we know is important but what is more important is who we know. What is most important is that we know God through faith in his son Jesus.

who?: who knew
who?: who knew by ric Gustafson
Even though our world changes, God does not change nor does his message. Psalm 139:16 says that God saw me before I was born and that every day of my life is recorded in his book. When we step out in faith in God's will, who knows what will happen?. God's plans are larger than ours. When we trust God, things will happen beyond our wildest dreams.
God wants to use us who knew?. When we step out in faith, our path is improbable. With faith, we get an impossible result. With our faith, we attain a imperishable crown. God can take us on a path we never thought of. Who knew?.

let's have lunch page 1
let's have lunch page 1 by ric Gustafson
A midday meal was a pattern of life work refresh work. A meal had to be determined by what was available to cook and what was available for fuel. If someone had a fire kindling overnight a meal could be cooked the next morning. Because of the amount of work involved, mealtimes depended on cooking times.
Neolithic cooks were limited in tools and materials so mealtimes was usually after the food was cooked. Thus the first meal of the day was nearer to noon than sunrise. And the meal could of been the only one of the day.
Because of planting and harvesting, meals were usually communally served. Harvest season lunches sometimes were spent doing a community's important business. Agricultural communities worked, ate and then worked again. In early cities, street food got people into temples, markets and public meeting places. Medieval lunches for peasants were communal lunches. Leavened bread made with yeast was common and inherited from the Romans. It was more economical, used less fuel to bake and kept longer. Cheese supplemented bread and might of been from goat, sheep or cow milk. Cider and wine was also popular.

Who?: a question of who
Who?: a question of who by ric Gustafson
What would the first disciples of Jesus think with the technology we have today. With television, the Internet, email and smartphones, I'm sure they would be amazed. I'm sure they would exclaim " who knew".
It's hard to imagine how far the Kingdom of God can reach people all over the world. We can broadcast the Gospel around the world at the speed of light. It's hard to believe how God's Church has come since the first century.
As God's people we need to exclaim " wow, who knew the great things God has done in my life". We need to step back and think to ourselves how has God blessed me today. God wants and desires to use you and bless you. " Who knew?".
