Margaret Tobin Brown page 7

 Margaret Tobin Brown page 7 by ric gustafson

To Margaret, it was more than a bump or a faint grinding noise. She felt a crash and was knocked to the ground. It startled her. She got up and put on her dressing gown. She walked out into the corridor. She noticed that the engines had stopped. The liner was silent. Margaret walked back into her stateroom. She began to read. She heard noises and walked out into the corridor again. This time, an officer and some stewards were conversing. She returned to her bed again. Again, she was startled by a pounding noise. It was Mr McGough. He was a Gimbels buyer Margaret had met earlier on the deck;
The grinding vibration woke up Second Officer Lightoller. He put on a sweater. He pur trousers over his pajama's. He walked up to the bridge. Captain Smith was already giving orders to his officers. He told them to uncover the lifeboats. Lightoller glanced at his watch. It was 12 midnight.
Margaret took off her dressing gown. She put on a black velvet two piece suit. She put on 7 pairs of stockings for warmth. She put on a sable stole. She put a silk capote around her head. She strapped on her lifebelt. She also took a blanket from the bed. When she walked out of her stateroom, she was ordered to go to the Boat Deck.
