Diana's boys page 4 by ric gustafson
Charles knew he had to fly to Paris and bring Diana home. He told the boys to stay home. Arriving back home that evening, Charles was joined by Diana's sisters Lady Jane and Lady Sarah. Tony Blair was also with them.
A television audience watched as Diana's casket was carried off the plane by an RAF honor guard. William and Harry did not watch it.
Diana's body was then taken to a private mortuary. After an autopsy, Diana was clothed in a long sleeved black coatdress. Into the casket was a picture of Diana's father, a rosary by Mother Teresa and Diana's favorite picture of her two sons.
Then Diana's casket was taken to the Chapel Royal at St James Palace in London. It had been twelve hours since the boys had been told of their mother's death. The next day, much of London was engulfed by flowers. Already rumors flew that Charles should step aside in favor of William. Diana's oldest son did have a knack for reading the mood of the people. William also could voice his opinion. While Harry was mourning the death of his mother, William was already helping his father with his mother's funeral.
