According to John 8:44, he is a liar and the father of lies. This father of lies is Satan. He has the power to deceive us. His chief weapon is to be able to deceive us.
Jesus died on the cross to take that weapon out of Satan's hand. Jesus took our sins and put them on himself. Because of what Jesus did on the cross, Satan cannot destroy us. The wrath of God is removed. Jesus had to take a human nature. He had to experience death. If we believe in Jesus, we should not fear death. Satan cannot kill our soul. God loves us more than anything else.
