the Foundry

the Foundry by ric gustafson

Flavius Artemis walked quietly into the foundry. An elderly man was working on an order.
" I have come for the nails".
He handed the young centurion a heavy sack.
" I just finished them". He stared at Flavius. " A crucifixion today?".
" Yes". He frowned. " Do you have three crossbeams?".
" Of course". He smiled. " Why three?".
" I have two robbers". He grinned. " And I need one for someone named Jesus".
The elderly man stared at the centurion. " Will you need stakes for those crossbeams?".
" No". He began to walk toward the front door. " We will use a tree from the Mount of Olives".
