A steward wearing a dark cutaway jacket walked over to the table. " Good evening my name is Hughes". He smiled. " I will be your host this evening". He handed out menus to everyone. " Tonight, we have oysters on the half shell, mousseline, lamb chops and mint jelly".
Charlene was sitting on the opposite end of the table with her brother. As people ate and then left, he knew his chance was coming.
" Mother, I'll be right back". He sat down next to Charlene. " How was your dinner?".
" Fine". She smiled as she put her bible down. " The lamb chops and mint jelly was very good".
" I don't know much about the bible". He frowned. " I would like to know more".
She looked at her watch. " Why don't we meet on the boat deck in twenty minutes".
He led his mother back to her room.
" I'm going up to the deck to talk to Charlene".
" Ok, I'll see you in the morning".

David knocked on the door. It opened to reveal his mother. She was dressed in a very fancy floor length dress.
" Here is our table seating schedule".
She put on a new red hat. " Is your new friend and brother going to be joining us?".
" Yes they will". He took her arm and they walked down the carpeted hallway. They walked into the first class dining room. They quickly found their table. The spacious room contained alcoves and leaded windows. Each table had a white linen tablecloth and a glowing lamp in the middle.
Camille smiled. " They are here".
David turned to see Charlene walk up to the table wearing a full length satin blue dress. Her brother was wearing a fancy men's suit.
The last of the table guests to arrive was a large man with brown eyes and a moustache.
" Good evening, I am Colonel Archibald Gracie".

As they walked, Cleopas and his friend listened as the stranger explained many things to them. Beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he told them things concerning himself in all the Scriptures.
The stranger noticed they were approaching the village. " I'm traveling farther down the road".
Cleopas spoke up. " Stay with us for it is getting toward evening and the day is now nearly over".
The stranger agreed. He entered their house. They reclined at a table. The stranger took bread, blessed it and then broke it. He handed them pieces of the bread.
The eyes of Cleopas and his friend were suddenly open. At that moment, they recognized the stranger as Jesus. Just as suddenly, Jesus vanished from their sight.
Cleopas and his friend returned to Jerusalem and told the others that they had seen the Lord.

" The things about Jesus the Nazarene who was a prophet in deed and word in the sight of God and all the people".
His friend spoke up. " The chief priests and out rulers delivered him to the sentence of death and crucified him".
Cleopas sighed. " We were hoping that it was he who was going to redeem Israel".
" And then something happened?".
" What happened?" Jesus replied.
Cleopas scratched his chin. " After three days, some of the women went to the tomb early in the morning and did not find his body".
" The women said they had seen a vision of angels who told them that he was alive".
His friend looked at Jesus. " Some of those who were with us went to the tomb and found it exactly as the women had said".
Jesus looked at them with loving eyes. " O foolish men and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken". His voice hesitated. " Was it not necessary for the Christ to suffer these things and to enter into his glory".

David and his mother were standing by the railing. They could hear the blast of the ship's horn and the slowing of the engines.
Camille looked at her son. " Who were you spending time with?".
" Her name is Charlene Moton". He smiled back. " I just met her this afternoon".
The gangplank was set up as a ferry approached.
" Is she a nice girl?".
Well dressed passengers got off the ferry and into the ship.
" She seems nice". His voice hesitated. " I haven't had much time to talk to her".
After all the passengers had boarded, the ship's horn blew again. Then the ship's triple screws started up again. They knew they were about to leave Cherbourg.
" Are you going to see her again?".
" Actually, she asked if you and I would join her for dinner this evening".
" What did you tell her?".
" I told her I would ask you first".
" David, tell her we would love to".
" Ok". He opened the door of the smoking room. " I'm going to spend a little time in here".
Camille smiled. " I'm going back to my cabin to rest and change for dinner".
" Oh and one more thing". He began to walk into the smoke filled room. " Charlene's a Christian".

Cleopas and his friend walked along the dusty road. They knew they were by the village of Emmaus. The village was about seven miles from Jerusalem. They were tired and sad. They had just witnessed the brutal death of their teacher and savior. As they walked, they were discussing that.
They walked up to a crossroads. Cleopas looked to his left. A young man was approaching them. He had a dark beard. He smiled.
" Would you mind if I walk with you toward the village?".
" No".
As they walked, Jesus listened to their conversation.
Cleopas wondered if he had seen the young man before.
" What are these words that you are exchanging with one another while you are walking?".
Both men stopped and stared at the stranger with confusion on their faces.
" Are you the only one visiting Jerusalem and unaware of the things which have happened here?".
Jesus looked at their bewildered faces. " What things?".

Flavius aimed a sword at a man. " I seek Cleopas".
A man stood up. " I am he".
" On order of the Roman Govenor Pontius Pilate". He looked at him sternly. " I am investigating the disappearance of the carpenter from Galilee from his tomb".
Cleopas smiled. " He is alive".
Flavius gave a puzzled stare. " How do you know that?".
Tears came to Cleopas's eyes. " Centurion, I saw him with my own eyes".
Flavius pointed his sword at his chest. " Show me his body".
" Since the day my friend and I encountered him". His voice hesitated. " I have not seen him ".
" Tell me how many followers he has?".
Cleopas smiled. " There are many".
" Tell me about the day you encountered him on the road to Emmaus".

David and Charlene walked along the deck. They stepped onto a lift that brought them downward. They got out to what resembled a Turkish bath. They opened a glass door which led to a nice sized swimming pool. They took off their shoes and put their feet into the warm water. Sunshine was streaming through the portholes.
David smiled at Charlene. " How long have you been a Christian?".
" Last year during my first year of college". She looked around the white walled room. " A Christian professor influenced my decision". Some wooden stairs were at one end of the pool.
" Are you a Christian David?".
They stood up and put their shoes back on.
" I'd rather answer that later".
" David, would you care to dine with myself and my brother tonight?".
" Your brother!". He looked at her in shock. " I thought he was a boyfriend or husband".
" No!". She giggled. " I would love to meet your mother".
" I'll ask her".

" This is called the Grand Staircase". They stared at the glass dome overhead.
She smiled at David. " So what are you doing in Southampton England".
" I came with my mother to visit relatives". He grinned. " How about you?".
" I'm a second year bible student at a local college". She smiled at David. " I'm going back to California to see my family".
He noticed the bible in her hand. " Are you a Christian Charlene?".
" Yes David I am".

" You've been following me".
" Hey you two". An officer walked up to them. " This leads to third class steerage".
David frowned. " Sorry officer".
He walked away.
She began to walk away.
" I don't even know your name".
She turned her head and smiled. " I'm Charlene Moton".

A young woman comes and gives them a drink and their camels. They find out that her name is Rebekah. They follow her home and talk with her brother Laban. They talk marriage between Isaac and Rebekah. They marry and Isaac is comforted by her after the death of his mother Sarah.

David began to study a brochure. " It's supposed to be just like you are actually eating at a Paris café".
" Ok" Camille replied.
They walked a short distance and found it.
" It does look like a Paris café". They sat down in some wicker furniture. An actual French waiter came over and took their order.
As they ate, David noticed silk ferns that went up the lattice work.
As they ate, a string trio played from the reception room next door.
David then noticed the young woman he had seen earlier sitting on the opposite side of the room.
He knew he had to go over and introduce himself.

The gigantic ship churned up huge waves as it approached two small liners moored together.
One of the two named the ' New York' began to bobb up and down wildly. As the huge swell from the Titanic bucked her wildly, her ropes snapped.
Captain Smith noticed it. He yelled at Officer Boxhall. " Into reverse".
A nearby tug quickly threw a line across the small ship stopping it before it collided with the huge liner.
" Hard to port Mr Boxhall".
The two ships barely missed hitting each other.
Captain Smith put a hand on the young officer's shoulder. " That was very close Mr Boxhall".
The young officer swung the wheel back to starboard. " Aye Sir".
Captain Smith smiled. " All ahead slow Mr Boxhall".
The telegraph was cranked. " All ahead slow".

Colonel Astor's valet walked in and whispered in his ear. He excused himself.
" Let's go up on deck". She walked toward the door. " The ship will be sailing before too long".
They walked up to the Boat Deck. As they looked at the lifeboats, they heard laughter.
David noticed a young woman, with blond hair and wearing a red hat, walk by them. A male companion was with her. He noticed a bible in her left hand.

The steward, wearing a white coat, black bowtie and trousers, put them where he asked. He walked over and handed David an envelope. " This is a welcome from Bruce Ismay and the White Star Line". He walked toward the door. " If you need me". He smiled. " Just ring the bell that is over the desk". He left.
David marveled at the cherry colored bed. The bedspread was light colored and there were four oversized pillows on top. He noticed the brass lamp over the bed.
There was a knock on the door. His mother walked in.
" David, this ship is huge".
" This room is beautiful too".
" David, I'm getting tired". She gave her son a tired smile. " I'd like to rest awhile".
" Ok". He smiled back. " While you rest, I'm going to tour this ship a little before it departs".

Abram moves with his wife Sarai, his nephew Lot and other relatives.
When they reach the area around Shechem, God tells them to stop. This was their land. Abram built altars and offered sacrifices to God.

God wants to know in Genesis 4 where Abel is. Cain replies " am I my brother's keeper?". God sentences Cain to wander the earth. God places a mark on Cain so no one can kill him.

They make clothes out of fig leaves. The serpent is cursed by God. Genesis 3:19 says that God cursed humans with death. God says we are dust and will return to dust.

We can only drink the cup when it is a cup of salvation. Psalm 116 talks about the cup of salvation. This psalm stresses that we need to call on the name of the Lord. Jesus drank the cup of his life. He experienced praise, admiration and popularity. Jesus also experienced ridicule, rejection and mass hatred. To complete his mission for his Father, he had to drink the cup. This cup Jesus drank was the cup of salvation. Jesus had to drink from this cup to save us on the cross.
God loves us more than anything else in this world. Praise God.

" I have come for the nails".

" I just finished them". He stared at Flavius. " A crucifixion today?".

" Of course". He smiled. " Why three?".
" I have two robbers". He grinned. " And I need one for someone named Jesus".
The elderly man stared at the centurion. " Will you need stakes for those crossbeams?".
" No". He began to walk toward the front door. " We will use a tree from the Mount of Olives".

Jesus is the man of sorrows. He hung on a cross for me. He was condemned, ridiculed and crucified. We are the people of sorrow. Jesus asks us the question. Jesus's cup was the sorrow of the whole human race. It is a cup of starvation, torture, rejection and anguish. It is a cup of bitterness. When it came to drink that cup, Jesus's soul was sorrowful. Jesus asked for the cup to pass by him. Jesus trusted his Father with the answer. God loves us more than anything else in this world.

Lamb goes back to the beginning of God's Word. The first animal sacrifice covered Adam and Eve. God used sacrifice to atone for one's sin. /At Passover, blood was on doorposts. The book of Leviticus described animal sacrifice.
John the Baptist called Jesus the Lamb of God. Jesus is the ultimate Lamb. Jesus was the sacrifice for us so we could be with him forever. Praise God.
