no crying in baseball page 29

no crying in baseball page 29 by ric gustafson

On a Saturday in September, nine thousand extras tried to get into Bosse Field. It was the day Penny was going to film the Women's World Series. Penny gave raffle prizes and had publicity to get all the extras they needed that day. An Evansville news station did a segment called ' Searching for Madonna'.
Penny needed a boy to play Evelyn's son Stilwell. The audition came down to Justin Scheller and a boy who looked like Dennis the Menace. Scheller got the part. The scene was for him to get hit by a mitt and then fall over. Hanks could not do it. Instead, a grip threw it. It took 40 takes to get it right. When Lori Petty as Kit had to hit a long ball, a hidden crew member threw the ball at her.
To film the home plate pileup Geena, Lori and their doubles staged the scene. When Kit runs to home plate, she collides with Dottie. Dottie drops the ball. Kit's team wins. When Penny wanted to shoot at Cooperstown, she only had 24 hours to do so.
Then the production ended. Everyone including Penny were tired. Then Penny started on the long editing process. A song called ' This Used To Be My Playground' was used for the ending credits. Madonna sang the song.
