The song was crafted by Paul. He created a Liverpool street scene where everything was perfect. There was a banker, a pretty nurse, a barber and a fireman. The song is snapshots of Paul and John's youth. The song was the first time Liverpool landmarks were used. Because of the song, Penny Lane is now a popular Liverpool tourist attraction. It became number 1 in the US and number 2 in England.
It was included on the album ' Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band'.
