In Feb 1965, John went on a skiing holiday. He wrote a basic tune and an opening couplet. Paul helped him come up with a story about a girl who leads a man on. Paul saw the song as a complete fantasy. The song showcased the use of the sitar. This Indian instrument was introduced to the band by George Harrison. The song was on the album Rubber Soul. It was released in December 1965.
