Booth's Revenge page 2

Booth's Revenge page 2 by ric Gustafson

It was April 1 1865 and Abraham Lincoln only had fourteen days to live. He standing on the upper deck of the steamboat River Queen. The steamboat was docked at City Point which was a bustling Virginia port. People had told him about having a bodyguard but he did not believe in them. The war had taken a toll on his body and now his face had fissures, contours and sunken cheeks.
His top advisors had been warning him about the possibility of an assassination. At six foot four, he was rail thin with a bearded chin and an interesting nose.
He knew that he was an easy target but he was not afraid. He was a man of faith and knew that God would guide him.
As dawn came, Abraham Lincoln only had thirteen days to live.
