John 4: 13-14- ' Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life'.
Everything in life sooner or later runs out. Groceries, money and time eventually run out. These two verses from John reveal to us that there is something that will not run out. There is a spring of water inside of us that never runs dry. The limitless Holy Spirit fills us to overflowing with power and God's presence.
The problem we have is that sometimes the faucet of the Holy Spirit can be shut off and we become dry and thirsty. We need to keep that Spirit faucet open so that prayer, serving and giving can always flow through us.

" Ten degrees port Mr Hichens" Fourth Officer Boxhall bellowed as the Quartermaster held tightly onto the wheel. " Steady as she goes".
First Officer William Murdoch looked over the bridge rail and then up toward the Crow's Nest. " Do you have our binoculars?".
" No Sir" Boxhall replied. " I gave them to Fleet who is up there".
" Do we have another pair?".
" No Sir, I believe that is the only pair we have on board".
Anger came to the First Officer's face. " You make sure he brings that pair to the bridge when he is done".
" Aye Sir" Boxhall said as Captain Smith entered the bridge. His white uniform and white beard struck an instant presence. Behind him was Bruce Ismay, the Director of the White Star Line.
Ismay looked over the shoulder of the Captain as he picked up a chart and began to study it. " When do we arrive at Queensland Captain?".
Captain Smith stroked his grey beard. " According to my chart, we should arrive there by noon tomorrow".
Looking at the chart further, Ismay frowned. " What is this course?".
" This is the course Mr Boxhall has laid out for us".
" Why!" he said in frustration as he stared at the Fourth Officer.
" It is a safer route and we can watch out better for ice".
" Nonsense" Ismay growled. " It will add a day and I will not allow it".
" Sir, what about the ice?".
" If you get any reports of ice" Ismay said as he walked toward the bridge railing. " You bring them directly to me".

A steward wearing a dark cutaway jacket walked over to the table. " Good evening, my name is Hughes and I will be your host this evening". He handed out menus as he introduced everyone. " Tonight, we have oysters on the half shell, salmon mousseline, lamb chops and mint jelly".
As he filled their water goblets, David wondered how he could talk to Charlene who was sitting at the other end of the table with her brother. It was so noisy in the huge room, he wasn't sure if he could hear her anyway. As people finished their dinner and left the table, he finally had his chance.
" Mother, I'll be right back".
She smiled as she talked with the steward.
" How was your dinner?" he quietly asked as he sat down next to her.
" Fine" she replied as she closed and put her bible on the table. " The lamb chops and mint jelly was very good".
" I don't know much about the bible" he said with a frown as he looked around the room. " I would like to learn more".
She looked at her watch. " Why don't we meet on the deck in twenty minutes?".
" Sure" was his reply as he began to walk back toward his mother. " I'm sure the moonlight is pretty tonight".
David escorted his mother back to her room. " I'm going up to the deck to talk to Charlene".
" Ok, I'll see you in the morning".

David knocked on the door and it opened to reveal his mother. She was dressed in a very fancy floor length dress.
" Here is our table seating schedule Mother".
" Is your new friend and her brother going to dine with us" she asked as she put on a new red hat.
" Yes, they will". He took her arm and they walked down the carpeted hallway to the first class dining room. They walked in and found their table. They looked around the spacious room that contained alcoves and leaded windows. They noticed that each table had a white linen tablecloth and a glowing lamp in the middle.
At the end of their table sat a man and woman who introduced themselves as Benjamin Guggenheim and Kitty Webb.
" They are here" his mother said as she smiled and took a sip from her water goblet.
David turned to see Charlene walk up to the table wearing a full length satin blue dress. Her brother was wearing a fancy men's suit. He pulled the chair for her and they sat down.
All of the table guests arrived and the last was a large man with brown eyes and a moustache.
" Good evening, I'm Colonel Archibald Gracie".

David and his mother walked over to the railing as they heard a blast of the ship's horn and the slowing of the ship's engines.
" Who were you spending time with?" she asked as she heard the ship's mighty anchors drop into place.
" Her name is Charlene Moton and I just met her this afternoon".
They watched as a gangplank was set up and a ferry approached to dock alongside.
" Is she a nice girl?" she asked as they watched the well dressed passengers come off the ferry and enter the ship.
" She seems nice even though I haven't had much time to talk to her yet".
They heard the ship's horn blast again and then the triple screws start up. They knew that the Cherbourg ferries had stopped and the mighty ship was getting underway again.
" Are you going to see her again?".
" Actually, she asked if you and I would join her and her brother for dinner tonight".
" What did you tell her?".
" I told her that I would ask you first".
" David, tell her that we would love to".
" Ok" he replied as they reached the glass doors of the smoking room. " I'm going to spend a little bit of time in here".
" I'm going back to my cabin to rest and change for dinner".
" Oh, one more thing" David said as he opened the door to the smoke filled room. " Charlene's a christian".

John 7:38-' If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink, he who believes in me as the Scripture said from his innermost being will flow rivers of living water'.
Jesus spoke these words at a moment no one was expecting. He said these words at the end of a week long feast. The reaction from the people was immediate. Some said he was a prophet, some said he was the Christ. Some people in the crowd wanted to seize him but no one laid a hand on him.
The question I ponder is how is our walk along the river?. Are we overflowing in the Spirit or stagnant?. Are we filled with the Spirit or dry and thirsty?. Are we being refreshed in the Spirit or stale?.
Jesus wants us to bend down and drink from the river. He wants us to drink deeply until we are satisfied. He longs for us to drink from this water every day.

As I put my double cheeseburger and banana on the square table, I sighed. It had been a busy morning scanning charts and I was already tired. " Lord, I'm so tired".
" Come to the water" said a small encouraging voice. " I will refresh your soul".
Tiredly, I shook my head ok and then walked into the cafeteria. I took the largest Pepsi cup from the stack and then walked over to the water machine. I filled the cup with ice and then filled it to the brim.
I sat down and lifted the blue Pepsi cup to my parched lips.
" Come to the water".
I drank and drank until my cup was empty. I put the empty cup on the table, looked up and smiled. " Thank you Lord".
I pray that everyone has a great weekend. Love Ric

David and Charlene walked along the deck and noticed it was now nearly empty. They stepped onto a lift that brought them downward. It stopped, the door opened and they walked through what looked like a Turkish bath. They opened a glass door which led to a nice sized swimming pool. They took off their shoes and put their feet into the warm water.
David noticed sunshine coming in through the portholes. " How long have you been a christian?".
" I became a christian during my first year of bible college" she replied as she looked around the stark white room. " One of my professors influenced my decision to convert".
A sloping set of wooden stairs was at one end of the enclosed pool.
" Are you a christian David?".
They stood up and put their shoes back on.
" I'd rather answer that later" was the gruff reply as they walked back up the steps to the deck.
" David, would you like to eat with my brother and I tonight?".
" Your brother!" David said in shock. " I thought he was a boyfriend or husband".
" No" she replied with a giggle. " I would love to meet your mom".
" I'll ask her" he said as they headed toward their rooms.

David and Charlene walked through the second class section of the huge ship. " Are you of the Moton Construction Company?".
" Yes, my father started the company" she replied with a grin as they walked up a spiral staircase to first class. " My father's company was an advisor with the construction of this beautiful ship". They walked to the end of a hallway, opened two massive doors and found themselves on probably the most crowning feature of the massive ship.
" This Grand Staircase is a work of art" David said as they gazed upward at the wrought iron and glass dome overhead.
" So what are you doing in Southampton England?".
" I came with my mother to visit my grandparents and visit England".
Charlene was marveled at a carved panel that contained a clock surrounded by carved figurines.
They stood next to a bannister and looked down below.
" And what are you doing in England?".
" I'm a second year bible student at a private college here" she said as she clutched her small bible in her right hand. " I'm going back to California to see my family".
He noticed the bible in her hand. " Are you a christian Charlene?".

" Mother, I'm going to go talk to somebody for a minute".
Camille looked toward the young woman who was sitting at the other table. " Ok".
David stood up and started walking toward the young woman's table. All of a sudden, they stood up and walked out some doors. David followed into an area that contained a set of spiral iron stairs. As they went through the doors, they now stood on the rear deck of second class.
The young woman, who was now wearing her red hat again and clutching her small bible, whispered something to her male companion. He walked toward the Well Deck.
She turned around and smiled at David. " You've been following me".
" I guess I have" he replied as he blushed at getting caught. " I'm David Sharpston".
" As in Sharpston Steel".
" Yes, , my grandfather started the company".
" Hey you two" said an officer who walked up to the pair. " This leads to third class steerage".
" Sorry officer". David led the young woman up the stairs to the Aft Well Deck.'
" I don't know your name" he said as he smiled at her.

I opened my eyes to reveal that I was in total darkness. I immediately covered my mouth because of the strong sulfur smell. I held my hands out and I could not see them. ' Where am I' was my first thought as my eyes tried to focus in the dark. I could see that I was in a circulier hole that had smooth walls. I felt like I was burning inside but I was not being consumed.
" Why am I here" I yelled as anger began to invade my thoughts. " God, what did I do to deserve this". Then the memory of the day that I stopped the Rabbi to ask a question came into my head. Memories of that day burned angrily in me.

Jesse Hudson opened his eyes to reveal everyone in the bible study group smiling at him. " Thank you for a great bible study year".
Suzanne Morris opened her blue purse and pulled out a brochure. " Remember when we talked about taking a summer trip together".
" I do remember that" he replied as he heard his wife Else scurrying around in the kitchen.
" I found the perfect place".
" Where is that?" Mary Franklin asked as she pulled some pictures out of her purse. " I have some new pictures of Whiskers to show everyone".
" A friend of mine kept showing me a brochure about a place called Parakeet Island" Suzanne said as she handed the brochure to Jesse. " Here it is".
" Parakeet Island" said Else as she put a pitcher of lemonade on the glass table. " What kind of place is that?".
" It's an island retreat for christians" Brad Mickell exclaimed as he glanced at the brochure. " We can hike, study birds and praise God in nature".
Jesse smiled at the others. " Let's do it".

the Romans Road page 7

Romans 10:13-' For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved'.
God wants us to call on him. The first person to call on the name of the Lord was Abraham. He did this after God appeared to him and promised to give him the land of Canaan. When we call on his name, we are appealing to his authority and power.
Those who call on him with a sincere heart will be saved. On the other hand, there are those who will not call on his name. God cannot ignore those that reject him. God gives everyone a choice to believe in him or reject him.
Those who accept him, their life will begin to change. Sin will not be their master and they will begin to obey the Lord. When they sin, they will confess it and seek forgiveness. They will begin to study his Word and the Holy Spirit inside them will help them start their spiritual path.
By traveling the Romans Road, we can come to a closer eternal relationship with God.

Romans 10: 9-10 -' If you declare with your mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved'.
When we accept Christ as our Savior and Lord, we need to declare that Christ rules our life and believe that in our heart. Jesus gives us a new life and our need for him. We must trust that Jesus was raised from the dead and that we have a saving faith.
A new holy life is possible through the resurrection of Jesus. Because the grave could not hold him, we are saved from our sins and can live an eternal life with God.
There is a great cost when we put our faith in Jesus. God wants a serious commitment on our part when we accept him.
When we count the cost, I pray that we will still travel the Romans Road.

Romans 10: 9-10 -' If you declare with your mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved'.
When we accept Christ as our Savior and Lord, we need to declare that Christ rules our life and believe that in our heart. Jesus gives us a new life and our need for him. We must trust that Jesus was raised from the dead and that we have a saving faith.
A new holy life is possible through the resurrection of Jesus. Because the grave could not hold him, we are saved from our sins and can live an eternal life with God.

Romans 5:8-' But God demonstrates his love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us'.
God is always trying to bring us into his Kingdom. He cares so much for us that he sent us his only Son. Through his only Son, God demonstrated his love for us and his very nature. Through Jesus's sacrifice on the cross, we have the chance to be with God forever. Everyone has the choice of either following God or to reject him.
Once we accept God's gift of salvation, the creation of a new person starts.
Our spiritual journey begins.

Pilate was talking to the officer on watch when there was a knock.
" Enter".
Cassius quietly entered and then saluted.
" Do you have a report centurion?".
" Yes my Prefect". Cassius hesitated to organize his thoughts. " I report a short skirmish with the outlaw Bar Abbas".
Pilate listened intently to the young soldier. In six short months, the young man had progressed from a slave to a centurion in his Italican Cohort. " Losses?".
" Four dead, nine wounded and eight prisoners including two of Bar Abbas's right hand men".
" Centurion, were you sure it was Bar Abbas?".
" I took a good look at him" Cassius said with a smirk. " A tall man with a red beard and a deep scar over one eye".
" Thank you for the report Centurion".

Romans 6:23- ' For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord'.
We have learned so far that sin leads to death. Because of our rebellion against God, sin has a price. Even though he had to punish sin, a gift of salvation was coming.
From the beginning, God had a plan to overcome Satan. God's only Son came and died for our sins. We have been saved by the gift of grace through Christ. This free gift is offered to all, some receive it and some don't. Because of grace, we are no longer bound by sin.
Once we start our new relationship with God, he wants us to turn away from sin. God gives his followers the Holy Spirit which dwells in us.
The Spirit works in our lives to defeat Satan and change us.

" Why don't we try the Parisien Cafe for a bite to eat?" David suggested as they were walking back from the deck. He was studying a brochure of all that the great ship offered. " It's supposed to be just like you are actually eating at a Paris Cafe".
" Ok" Camille said. They walked a short distance and found it. " It does look like a Paris Cafe" she said as they sat down in some wicker furniture. An actual French waiter walked over and took their order.
David observed silk ferns up the lattice work as they waited for their food.
Their food arrived and they listened to a string trio from the reception room next door.
David saw the young woman he had seen earlier sit down on the other side of the room. She smiled at him and he knew he had to finally introduce himself.

David and his mother stood on the deck as they heard the huge propellers begin to turn. Each measured over 16 feet and churned up the water as the huge ship came up to two small liners that were moored nearby.
One of the two, the New York began to bobbi up and down due to the huge swell from the Titanic. The small liner's ropes that kept her secured snapped and the liner began to drift toward the huge ship. Captain Smith threw the massive engines into reverse and a tug threw a line onto the small liner barely stopping it. The huge ship barely made it past the small liner after Fourth Officer Boxhall swung the wheel hard to port.
Captain Smith put a hand on the young officer's shoulder. " That was very close Mr Boxhall".
Officer Lightoller smiled at the young officer. " That was very good steering Mr Boxhall".
" Aye Sir" he replied with a grin as he swung the wheel back to starboard.
" All ahead slow Mr Boxhall" Captain Smith said quietly.
" All ahead slow" the young officer replied as a sailor cranked the telegraph.

Camille walked up the Grand Staircase and figured her son was in the smoking room. She opened the door and smelled the stale cigar smell. She noticed her son sitting in a red leather chair smoking a cigar with an older gentleman.
" Mother" he said as he stood up and pointed toward his new friend. " I'd like to introduce you to Colonel John J Astor".
The middle aged man with a mustache stood up and shook her hand. " A pleasure to meet you" he said as he smiled. " Are you related to the Sharpston Steel Corp?".
" Yes, my father started the company".
Colonel Astor's valet walked in and he excused himself.
" Let's go up on deck" she said as she walked toward the glass doors. " The ship will be sailing before too long".
They walked along the Boat Deck and David noticed the lifeboats tied up along the side. He heard laughter coming from the first class passageway and glanced to see what it was.

David opened the brass doorknob of C-77 and walked into the elegant room.
" Excuse me Sir".
He turned to see a steward standing in the doorway. " Yes".
" I have your bags on my cart" he said as he tipped his hat. " I am Stringfeld, your steward".
" You can bring them in and put them by that sofa".
The steward, wearing a white coat, black bowtie and trousers, put them where he asked. He walked over and handed David an envelope. " This is an envelope of welcome from Mr Bruce Ismay and the White Star Line". He walked toward the door. " If you need me, just ring the bell that is over the desk".
" Thank you" David replied as he shook his hand. He left and David walked across the fancy blue carpet and sat down on the cherry colored bed. The light colored bedspread went up to four oversized pillows. He also noticed that there was a brass lamp over the bed.
He decided to take a walk and explore this beautiful ship before it sailed at noon. He walked down to the smoking room and because he was not a christian, decided to enjoy for a short time one of his vices. The room had wooden walls and red leather chairs. He also noticed at least one fireplace.

The fourth officer, standing on the railing to the bridge, turned and saw the smiling face of Captain E J Smith.
" A grand morning it is" the young officer replied as he glanced at the brass buttons lining the front of his blue uniform. The Captain had his Afghan hound by his side.
" Have you been working on our course?".
" Aye Sir". They walked into the bridge and stopped at a huge map. " I have us more on a southerly route to avoid ice fields".
" That's fine for right now" Captain Smith replied as he scratched his grey beard. " We'll have to see what Mr Ismay says". As the young officer walked away, Captain Smith noticed a young man enter the wireless operator room. He knocked on the door.
It opened to reveal a young man standing next to something he had never seen before.
" Come in Captain, I'm Jack Phillips" he said as he shook the Captain's hand. " Mr Bride and myself will be in charge of the Marconi wireless".
" Mr Phillips, what is the range of this wonderful new apparatus?".
" Four hundred miles by day Captain".
" Good".

From the moment we enter this life, death becomes part of it. Sin is the root cause of death and nothing can change that. Sin seperates us from God and has destroyed our world.
The first couple, after eating the forbidden fruit, did not commune with God. They tried to hide from him. They could not hide from God so instead Eve blamed the serpent. After this, their relationship with God was shattered.
The solution to our sins is faith. Faith comes from deep down in our souls. Our actions show what we believe. Everyone has faith in something. Because of our sinning, we would naturally be doomed for all of eternity. But do not fear, God has a great master plan for our lives.

David Sharpston adjusted his black bowler hat as steerage passengers from Waterloo Station ran with their possesions toward the Aft ramp. " Are you ok Mother?" he said as the confusion along the huge berth seemed to be getting worse. People were hurrying to get on board before the ship sailed at noon.
" Yes I'm fine" Camille Sharpston replied as she struggled to carry the two big suitcases in her hands.
He struggled with his two suitcases as he noticed how the beautiful black and white ship filled the entire berth. David knew he and his mother were lucky to get first class tickets for this ship's maiden voyage.
" Help with this Sir" a porter asked as he reached for one of the brown suitcases. " I can put them on this rack and take them up to C deck for you".
" Thank you". David and his mother walked up the ramp and into the ship.
An officer wearing a blue suit and cap and holding a notebook greeted them. " I am Second Officer Lighttoller".
" I am David Sharpston and this is my mother Camille Sharpston".
The officer looked at his notebook. " Yes, I have you in C-77 and your mother in C-78 just across the hall".
" Thank you" Camille replied as she fidgeted with the hat that was in her hand.
" I will have a steward bring your luggage to your rooms".

The gladiator's shield deflected the pilum. As he watched it fall to the ground, he failed to see the short spear enter his throat. After a gurgle, he fell to the ground. A hundred thousand roars came from the arena's audience. Cassius stood in a daze not knowing what to do.
Balbus stared at Sejanus. " I thought for sure he would lose".
Behind Sejanus sat Claudia Procula and her new husband. He leaned forward and whispered something into Sejanus's ear.
He clapped his hands. A guard walked over. " Bring the slave to me".
The guard brought Cassius and now the slave stood in front of the Roman.
" My name is Pilate and I am going to become the new Prefect of Judea. " Slave, I noticed that you are very skilled at using the small spear".
Cassius smiled.
" Slave, I need soldiers who are skilled with a shield and spear for my personal protection". " Are you interested?".
" Yes".

Romans 3:10- ' there is none righteous, not even one'
When we are born, we start traveling on a road. As we travel along this road, we discover that sometimes everything is wonderful and sometimes it is not. Our problems along the road began with the first couple in a garden.
The first couple were created without sin. When the couple decided to disobey God, problems began along the road. God is holy, has a glorious nature, is perfect and never sins. God wants complete righteousness from us. God wants us to be perfect yet we know that we are not. We make mistakes and sin.
In order to start traveling down the Romans Road, we need to admit that we are not righteous but a sinner.
There is a chasm between God and man but he gave his only son to bridge that. God has always loved us and will not desert us.

Martha was feeding their donkey when she heard the gate open and close. She noticed that it was the Roman soldier who had saved her father.
Flavius took off his helmet. " I'm sorry to bother you".
" That's ok centurion" she replied as she stroked lovingly the top of the donkey's head. " I wanted to thank you again for saving my father".

Rory and Alan Saxton entered the conference room and sat down.
" Morning" Jim said as he sipped coffee from a large blue mug. " Thank you for coming in on short notice".
" Why are we here Mr Harris?".
" Rory, you will find out in just a minute".
A minute later, a dark haired gentleman entered the room and put his black briefcase on top of a nearby podium. " Good morning gentlemen" he said with a slight smile as he took some papers out of his briefcase. " My name is Larry Gambino and I represent the One World financial network". He nervously shuffled his papers. " This financial network was started by my boss so that a network of banks around the world could promote peace and good will".
" Who is your boss?" Rory asked.
" You probably have seen him on tv a lot lately" he said with a smile as he looked at Rory. " My boss is Carlo Simpato".
