Flavius Artemis the centurion page 16 by ric Gustafson
Flavius held tightly onto the rope as he led Jesus across the open courtyard. It was dark and cold and Flavius noticed a coal fire that was in a corner of the courtyard. His keen eye noticed two men standing next to it. One was big, burly and looked like a fisherman. He looked familiar to Flavius.
He led Jesus into the large meeting hall.
Caiaphas noticed the Rabbi. He raised a hand to quiet the men behind him. Instead of a so called King, he looked upon a young bearded man who's face looked swollen from being struck.
Flavius led Jesus so he would be right in front of the chief priest.
His head was down and he was silent.
Several people came forward and said all kinds of accusations against him.
Caiaphas knew that their statements would not sustain a charge against the prisoner. He waited patiently to hear the last two accusers.
