Beatles the early years page 1

Beatles the early years page 1 by ric gustafson

Jim McCartney was not sure about the boy hanging around his son Paul. They came home in the afternoon until 5. Paul's father noticed smoke and dirty dishes. By five, the two had written a new song. Jim warned his son that his new friend would get him in trouble.
In 1956-57, John Lennon was 16 years old. He started a skiffle group called the Quarry Men. Lennon was the front man. In truth, Lennon wanted his group to be more rock than skiffle. When he turned 17, Lennon asked Paul to join his group.
Paul knew that John was two years older than he was. To Paul, John was a grownup Teddy Boy. He smoked. swore and went to college. John had Elvis Presley sideburns, an upturned collar and hunched shoulders. John was funny, abrasive and sometimes rude. He was literate and creative.
John had a huge impact on Paul. In 1957, Paul got a guitar. He was hooked. Paul was the oldest of two brothers. Paul was a storyteller, a mimic and a cartoonist. John and Paul realized early on they had the same interests. They enjoyed the same books and television shows. ' The Goon Show' consumed them.
They became fast friends.
