Annalies Marie Frank was born in Frankfurt Germany on June 12 1929. Her parents were Otto and Edith Frank. The Frank's eldest daughter was three year old Margot. Anne grew up with wild dark hair, protruding ears and an infectious laugh. Otto gave Anne much love and attention. Otto was the son of a millionaire. His mother Alice was from a well to do family. The Franks were a Jewish family on the outskirts of Frankfurt. The Wall Street crash of 1929 hurt the Franks wealth.
In 1933, Adolf Hitler came into power. He boycotted Jewish store owners. In 1934, it was the banks turn. The Michael Frank Bank had to close. Otto knew they had to flee but where?. Otto decided on Holland because he was familiar with the country and the language. In August 1933, Otto began to set up a new business in Amsterdam. More than 63,000 Jews left Germany in 1933.
