biblical finds: Caiaphas's ossuary by ric Gustafson
Caiaphas was high priest during the time of Pontius Pilate. He was the leader of the Sadducees and the head of the Sanhedrin. Caiaphas was able to arrest Jesus with the help of Judas Iscariot. Caiaphas was a key figure in the final events of Jesus's life.
In 1990 while building a water park south of the Temple Mount, a hidden burial room was discovered. Twelve limestone ossuaries were discovered. The name ' Caiaphas' was inscribed on one of them.
