Miguel heard the silence as the last of the families left. " Doreen, are you still here?"
" Yes". The voice hesitated. " They did not pick me".
" Alex, are you still here?".
" Yes, I'm still here". The voice got quieter. " I was not picked either".
" What's wrong with me?". Doreen muttered. " I'm a good looking pumpkin".
" I don't know". Miguel sighed. " I'm a good looking pumpkin also".
" I'm scared". Alex replied. " What will happen to us if we are not picked?".
" Let's not worry". Doreen replied in a reassuring voice. " God knows we are here".
" I sure hope you are right".
