Early in his college years, Johnny Carson met Joan Morrill Wolcott. Nicknamed Jody, her family was from North Platte Nebraska. Morrill County was named after Jody's great grandfather Charles Morrill. He had made his fortune as a banker and a land speculator. Jody's grandfather was a college professor. Jody's father was a civil engineer.
Jody wanted to be a cartoonist. Instead, she got involved with Johnny. She loved Johnny. He did not show it. But she knew he loved her.
Johnny was busy during his final year at Nebraska. He was the master of ceremonies for the Kosmet Klub. He was on the radio for KFAB which was a Lincoln Nebraska radio station. Johnny spent a lot of his time in the speech and radio department. He spent time at the university theater. At the theater, Johnny experimented with a new form of communication. It was called television.
But for right now, Johnny loved being on the radio.
