midnight on the Potomac page 1 by ric gustafson
Tad Lincoln liked to wear a child sized Union army uniform. The uniform had brass buttons, epaulets and a silk sash. Just past his 10th birthday, he had trouble saying syllables, consonants and vowels. Tad could not read or write. He could not dress himself. He had trouble chewing his food.
In his own way, Tad was still grieving the death of his older brother. Willie had died two years earlier from Typhoid.
Tad had free reign in the most famous house in America. The truth was Tad Lincoln was a lonely boy. President Abraham Lincoln loved spending time with his youngest son.
