Production began at Bill Melendez's Productions. The film studio was located on N Larchmont Boulevard. This was located south of Hollywood. This was in the upscale Hancock Park area of LA. Melendez began preparing story boards. There were about 480 scenes. This came to about 26 minutes of animated content.
Then Schulz and Mendelson had to find the voice talent. For the character of Charlie Brown, someone with a blah voice had to be found. Peter Robbins was cast. To play Linus, someone with a slight lisp needed to be found. Chris Shea was cast. To play Lucy, an actress had to be found who could play a wide range of personalities. Tracy Stratford was cast.
The rest of the characters were found next. Playing Violet was Sally Dryer. 6 year old Cathy Steinberg was cast as Sally. Cast as Schroeder was Chris Dovan. Cast as Frieda was Anne Altieri. Cast as Pig Pen was Jeff Ornstein. Finally, cast as Patty was Karen Mendelson.
The recording session for the voice talent was done at United Western Recorders.
