By the summer of 1948, Richy Starkey was recovering from being in the hospital. Elsie Starkey was glad to have him back. A family friend named Marie Maguire helped Richy get caught up with school. Richy loved cowboy movies and cowboy music. His dream was to go to the USA the promised land.
Country music was also a big influence on George Harrison. George loved listening to Jimmie Rodgers. George also loved listening to Hank Williams, the Ink Spots and Cab Calloway. George loved a music hall player named George Formby.
In John's neighborhood was the Salvation Army's residence for the children of broken homes. John and three of his friends knew the private grounds well. It was a prime hangout for the 4 lads. John's Aunt Mimi always took John to their annual garden party.
The Gothic mansion was called Strawberry Fields.
