a Charlie Brown Christmas page 15 by ric gustafson
On Thursday Dec 9 1965 at 7:30 pm Eastern time, ' A Charlie Brown Christmas' was broadcast. The special was broadcast between the CBS Evening News with Walter Cronkite and Gilligan's Island. Millions sat down in front of a TV set to watch a televised Christmas special.
The first scene is a classic winter scene where the Peanuts characters are skating on a frozen pond. In the background is Guaraldi's song ' Christmas Time Is Here'. In the second scene, Charlie Brown is depressed. He has not received a single Christmas card. He decides to walk over to Lucy's psychiatric booth. To cheer him up, Lucy suggests Charlie Brown directs their upcoming Christmas play.
First time Director Charlie Brown is frustrated at rehearsals. No one listens to him. No one follows his instructions. Frustrated, Charlie Brown and Linus leave to find a proper Christmas tree.
