the Reluctant Beatle page 33 by ric gustafson
The Apple rooftop performance brought the band to a halt. The band left their abandoned ' Get Back' album to the care of George Martin and Glyn Johns. The two also became in charge of the television documentary.
In the spring and summer of 1969, the band and George Msrtin started working on what became their last album. Titled ' Abbey Road', the band decided on a simple cover photograph. The band walked out the front entrance of EMI studio and in single file walked across the zebra crossing.
Songs on the last album included ' Maxwell's Silver Hammer', ' Octopus's Garden', ' Because' and ' Sun King'.
George had two songs on the album. The first was ' Here Comes The Sun'. The song was inspired by a day in Eric Clapton's garden. The second song many have argued is the best song George has ever written.
The song is called ' Something'.
With the release of ' Abbey Road', the band went their seperate ways for good.
