The Cabinet Room was filled with men President Kennedy trusted. The President stared at General Carter. " Tell us what's going on?".
The General passed out photographs to everyone in the room. " These photographs were taken October 14 from a U-2 flight".
The President looked at the photograph. " General, what does this photograph show?".
" This photograph shows a Soviet missile launching site near San Cristobal".
Bobby held up the photograph. " General, can you be more specific?".
" Sure". The General's voice hesitated. " The vehicles you see are carrying fuel".
" Continue General".
" What you see sheltered upon trailers are missiles".
President Kennedy frowned. " How long are they General?".
" Eighty feet long".
" General, do you think these missiles have nuclear warheads?".
" Not from this photo Mr President". The General's voice hesitated. " The length tells me they are medium range ballistic missiles".
" General, we will monitor those bases with U-2 flights". President Kennedy smiled. " Thank you General".
