He was a Tin Man searching for a heart. The actor's name was Jack Haley. Jack Haley was born in Boston on Aug 10 1897. He lost his father when he was only 6 years old. In 1921, Haley married Florence McFadden. Twelve years later they had a son named Jack Jr.
Haley worked on Broadway and in musicals. He was in two pictures with Shirley Temple in 1936 and 1938. He played a football coach in ' Pigskin Parade' with Judy Garland.
Between 1937 and 1939, Haley hosted a radio show. Haley got the role of the Tin Man because Buddy Ebsen had a fatal reaction to aluminum dust. After Oz, Haley was in many pictures and TV shows such as Playhouse 90 and Marcus Welby.
Haley passed away on June 6 1979 after suffering a heart attack.
