World Heroes: Constantine the Great by ric Gustafson
Constantine was the first emperor to convert to Christianity. His reign was a watershed in the history of the Christian church. He ushered in religious tolerance and freedom. His path was the foundation for a new age of Christian learning and prosperity.
Constantine was born in 285. He was the son of a general. He watched the brutal reign of Diocletian. His father died in 306 and he became emperor. In 313, he drafted the Edict of Milan. This proclamation extended to everyone the freedom to worship who they wished to. Christians were granted legal rights for the first time. For the first time, Christians could worship God without fear.
Constantine was baptized on his death bed. Praise God.
