Emily was sitting next to Dorothy on the floor of the bedroom. Surrounding them were toy animals and teddy bears. Emily pointed at the toy animals. " Are they having a tea party?".
Dorothy frowned. " There at a funeral".
" Oh dear, I'm sorry".
" I'll never see Mommy and Daddy again". Dorothy handed Emily a stuffed monkey. " It's not fair".
Emily thought to herself how do you explain to a child that your Mommy and Daddy had drowned in a boating accident.
" I'm so sorry Dorothy". A tear came to Emily's face. " I miss your mother too".
Dorothy snuggled against Emily. " Tell me about Mommy?".
" Her birthday was Feb 14". Emily grinned. " Your eyes are the same color as hers".
Dorothy smiled. " Emerald green".
" That's right".
