Two from Galilee page 4 by ric gustafson
Joachim slowly walked down the cobbled street. His dry red beard bristled in the sun. He had sympathy for Joseph. He also had to leave school at an early age to support his mother and sisters. He stopped and banged on a door. It was the shop of Jacob the carpenter. The shop smelled of sawdust and chips.
Then a curtain opened. A young man walked out. It was Joseph.
" What can I do for you?".
" My wife wondered if you could look at our loom". Joachim smiled. " Also to invite you over for the evening meal".
" It is my sister's birthday today".
Joachim frowned. " Perhaps another time".
" Yes, I will come over".
" Our meal will not be as fancy as your birthday meal".
" The invitation is more than enough".
Joachim smiled. " Good".
Then he departed. He went to a nearby market. He got a duck for the evening meal.
